The News / Recent Downtime
« on: December 18, 2014, 06:58:31 PM »
Sonic had put the server onto a new IP block for ISP with his server and some things that were hosted on it were temporarily down for the duration. Everything is back up, but for those who may still have no access, DNS propagation can take up to 72 hours (usually within 24-48 hours) to take place and get updated. If for some reason some people still have issues, y'all can visit this link to find out how to flush DNS cache in Windows Vista/7. The site also has info on other Windows OS, in case Vista/7 is not your primary OS.

I regret to inform the maybe 2/3 people that may still come back in the hopes that we'll continue this story, but no longer.

I have thought long and hard about my decision, but it unfortunately comes to an end today. From this day on, Mysterious Shadow Elites will no longer be written and the story is officially closed. Due to certain recent events the last few months, I've had to think on what I was going to do with this story, and future titles I plan to write and how I was going to go about them. Sad truth is, for one story I once enjoyed writing, may no longer be enjoyable and it pains me to have to close it down permanently.

I will not be going into the details as this is more of a personal matter that needs to be settled outside of the online community. I've already kicked off one person before for other reasons, I'm not going to do that mistake again. Honestly, I wish I didn't have to make this choice, even after almost 3 years of not a single post to the story... My job for 2 and a half years left me with little time to think, and then quitting it after a change in management and getting royally screwed over. I'm now having to rethink certain priorities in my own life since then and other recent occurrences that have happened that put a bit much on the pressure on my shoulders.

In closing, no more posts will be made. The topic will remain for anyone who does wish to see what was posted and how the story developed over time. I do want to apologize for all the delays, but again, certain things forced me to make some tough decisions and this one was sadly one of those. I hope y'all understand, and I'll see you in another story.

Update, I had a small brainstorm and I think I figured out how I can get this one rolling. I'm going to get some baseline stuff prepped and ready to go locally, have someone help me out with a few names and all that good stuff.

I'll think about updating my character page with my ex's characters, but I may not. I think what I'll do is utilize one more post in this topic as a list of all the characters that will be used in the story at some point in time, and as the generations go farther out, the story somewhat evolves from there. We'll see. With that out of the way, I apparently have a little bit of work to do.

Oh yeah, I'm sure someone may noticed this, I changed the title a little bit. Same idea gets across, but I think the current one more accurately reflects the way this story is going to roll. At least in my opinion.

The oracle is fine where its at IMO. It'd also be a good idea to go ahead and build the small hallway connectors in between the two cross connectors.

Though, my idea, personally, was to build an elevator off one of the paths, and put the reactors and research labs down on the bottom (or top) while keeping some other pieces on the main level.

Cookie points for anyone who can name where this image came from.  :D

Oh, just an anime that stars a military teen that only knows military stuff, and a girl who likes him, but doesn't like him, and a 16 year old captain who is god awful pretty... TL:DR - Full Metal Panic.

No image since this stuff I tend to avoid anyway. =P

Gaming Discussion / Re: Mass Effect 3 WTFness

I don't really see the problem with that to be honest. Maybe it was just an animation sequence error or something, but its not something I'd bitch about.

Sure, ending is terrible, that's usually the case for any game going on for more than two (same could be said for anime sometimes). I've been hearing rumors of a possible changed ending sequence, but whether or not that happens, I don't know. I don't even think changing it will help matters anyway and I'm not even for it. I'm more interested in the history of Mass Effect, before Shepard came into the picture at the moment, and those talks are going on. (well, not so much as a prequel, just a new game in the same universe, no idea if it'll be after or before)

The News / New Features for the Channel!
« on: June 29, 2011, 10:02:35 AM »
Been a while since a news post eh? Well here's one.

The past few weeks, I've been playing around with an EggDrop bot and I finally got the darn thing to cooperate, though barely. It still refuses my laptop, but it accepts my desktop where I don't run the bot. Strange? Oh well, picky bot is picky.

I'll give you a rundown. The bot is known as LoliFox, simple as that. It does virtually nothing in the channel except provide some fun features for everyone to play with. Some include FMyLife quotes, Bash (a repository of hundreds of thousands of IRC quotes), a google search function, among other things. It does have anti-spam measures so that no one floods the bot out. I recommend waiting about 15 seconds per command before typing it again or another command.

If you wish to see an entire list of available commands, you may type !triggers in the channel to see a list. When typing the command, you need to wait about 5 seconds before you get any response, so a little patience is needed. Its all just anti-spam measures so nothing is flooded out and such.

Now what about requesting? Eh well, that's another matter... Why? I'm no coder, and TCL is not necessarily a friendly language. The bot uses TCL coding and scripts to run things, and not every script functions. I test each and every script before I put them up live so that I don't spam the main channel. Anyone wishing to request something, can definitely try and I'll see if I can find a script for it, or perhaps get lucky and find someone to code something. Otherwise, I can't really help ya.

So, enjoy the new bot, and again, do play safe, we don't want to cart off more innocent people to the hospital after a meltdown occurring. XD

Waiting for the right moment, Akemi then sidesteps out of the way just enough that when Xenfis comes down, he instead hits the ground. Readying her saber, she makes a quick slash towards the head unit of his gundam.

The News / Re: New IRC Server
« on: May 12, 2011, 03:48:57 PM »
Mk, just a quick note for everyone. There will be two additional channels y'all can join, if you wish. Ok technically one, but anyway.. the first is called #general. At the time of this post, I still have to configure that channel a bit, so excuse anything that looks real plain. Y'all can use this channel to chat just about anything, network rules apply, the forum rules here have no effect there. Only in #Insanity_Refuge where forum rules will also apply in an IRC channel. #help is another channel, but please do read the topic for it. It is a channel specifically for the aid of users who need help with either how to use the services, or have questions about IRC in general. If you have no need to be in there, we do ask that you leave the channel with a /part #help command. But if you do have a question, don't hesitate to ask; you do not need to ask to ask a question either. (I can't begin to tell you how often I see those in other channels I'm in.)

That about does it. Most questions are answered on the website for ShadowHime, so look there first as a precaution if your question is already answered.

The News / New IRC Server
« on: May 11, 2011, 03:11:05 PM »
Yeah, might as well make a new topic. I think I'll move the other or something, but I'll think of something.

Anyway, point is, thanks to Kalshion footing the bill (I was trying to avoid if possible, but certain someone here didn't like the idea, and I won't get the news I need for maybe another month or so), I've gotten an IRC server set up with a particular host that has all the necessary filters and such.

The channel will remain the same, only the server has changed. ShadowHime was a network I ran a few years ago with Noratetsu, but didn't see much traffic and I saw no point in paying for the server anymore. Now that I have a bit of reason to bring it back from the darkness of shadow, everything is running. Actually, it has been for about 3 days, and everything is pretty much configured fine. Neat thing about this is that I won't have to restart the server when I make changes since everything is modular and can be reloaded individually to reset something.

Before I blabber on too much, here's a bit of info y'all will need to know. is a site that's been around since I started the original server. I had kept my original configs but then a hard drive crash crushed that pretty hard... would of saved me a lot of trouble. Anyway, server updates will be posted over there, not here. Just keep that in mind for the time being.

/server +6697
Chatzilla users who wish to use SSL may use /sslserver 6697
Channel: /join #insanity_refuge

SSL is enabled on the server on port 6697, so clients supporting it, such as X-Chat and mIRC, may use the second command if they wish to connect via that route for an encrypted connection. I'll update the other topic when I get a chance, but for now, this will have to do.

The News / Re: Oh god.. The Insane IRC Channel!
« on: April 28, 2011, 12:05:43 PM »
Oh fun, another update. With some help from Sonic, got a couple things cleared up and I got RSS feeds streaming to the IRC channel. At the moment, I only have the following: News (topic only), and the three story boards that'll report every new post.

The script itself checks about every 5 minutes, but I may increase this to around 10-30 minutes probably. We'll see how it goes. Again, follow any links up there if you want to get to the channel itself.

Zeon Base

While the talks continue, Hitoshi begins to show some signs of boredom and decides to leave back into the hanger where his own suit is located. "They'll be at this for another couple hours..." Speaking to himself as he walked back. At the same time, he brought out a tiny tablet computer of sorts from his pocket and began to input various bits of data.

EF Base

Akemi had the suit reach to the back to pull out the beam saber, then readies herself in a rather unique stance. Instead of holding the saber with two hands, she chose to hold the saber in the left hand, raised high with the saber pointing in a downward slope towards her opponent. The right hand is positioned in a way to counter a possible attack, or to make a swift strike elsewhere from the diverted attention of the sabers clashing.

OOC: Late, I know. Anime group stuff kept me a little busy and storms the past 4 days got me more anxious than I cared to be.

Character Bios
These will be how you *first* get introduced to them in the story. However, later on as time goes on, I will add any additional info to corresponding sections as their personalities change, as well as age and other things.

Age: 13
Gender: Female
Race: Fox
Element: Snow
Height: Roughly 5'
Ears and color: Fox ears, mostly a light pink, with white tips.
Tail(s): Fox, only one tail, however is kept hidden. When you do see it, it keeps the very soft tone of pink, with a white tip.
Facial Markings: On her cheeks, she has a single spiked line that goes from just under her eyes to the base of her ears. She has one other marking on her forehead, however it cannot be seen due to her bangs.
Personality: Very withholding of herself. She doesn't talk very much as she's still going through a state of depression during this time. Though it doesn't detract her from her maternal instincts to take care of her baby sister, Shizuka.
Clothing: Clean traditional clothes, but simple. It is a very simple kimono with a base color being a snow white color, with the hems being a soft pink. The Obi retains the white coloring, with the addition of sakuras dotted around.

Age: 4
Gender: Female
Race: Fox
Element: Snow
Height: (Still a child, thus is still growing)
Ears and color: Fox ears, mostly a light pink, with white tips.
Tail(s): Fox, only one tail. Has a very soft tone of pink, with a white tip.
Facial Markings: Same as Yuki's, except for the time, the shape on her forehead will not appear until she gets slightly older. It'll also be hidden by her bangs at that point.
Personality: (again, infant, so I can't really say at this time)
Clothing: (will go about it later)

Age: 10
Gender: Female
Race: Fox
Element: Snow
Height: 4'2.5"
Ears and color: Fox ears, and contrary to belief, the coloring is dark blue.
Tail(s): Fox, only one tail, and strangely, instead of the usual pink, its a shiny, yet dark blue color. The white tip on her tail symbolizes the snow element within her.
Facial Markings: The same markings are seen just like Yuki and Shizuka, with one exception that she freely shows the marking on her forehead, which is like a bird-shape in a pale, light blue color.
Personality: She's rather a rambunctious kid. She gets into trouble occasionally, but she is excellent around kids. As she lives within a trade village, many travelers come through to tell their tales, and Mariko recites them back in a way the kids could understand easily. She's not necessarily shy and will happily go up to someone in need, or of course, cause a little trouble here and there. Not necessarily the best role model for kids, but her way of stories sets anyone at ease.
Clothing: Unlike what others wear, she lives in a slightly warmer area that allows her to wear something somewhat lighter, and is found typically wearing a somewhat dark blue kimono with trims in a more icy blue color. Hemming on her kimono is more in a pink tone for the girl that she is.
