"Whew..." says Sahari as she mixes the ingreidents together to form a good smelling, yet sticky medication. She poured the contents of the pot into some clear bottles that had once been used for milk, but had been cleaned and steralized for medical use.

The liquad came out to be a light bluish color; though chunks of red could be seen floating inside, these chunks quickly dissolved. She capped the bottles and placed them in the cubberd.

With a s smile on her face she headed out onto the porch to watch the distant sun. Again, her mind raced with the thoughts of her little sister and how she used to have fun trying to find her amongst the fields.

Leaving Yume behind for the time being, Kyoto takes Kanami to the clinic to get her wounds checked out. She doesn't know how serious they could be, or how long she may live with those kinds of wounds.

Shortly after doing a small look over herself, she arrives at the clinic to find Sahari at the porch. "Beautiful evening, isn't it?" She calls out to her.

Kalshion

"Good Evening Kyoto," said Sahari as she brought her hand down to her side and walked casually over to her. "It is lovely, though it looks like we have a storm rolling in," she glanced to the north and motioned at the darkening clouds.

With a sigh of delight, more so at the storm, she turned toward her guest and noticed she was carrying a small kit who was bundled up. "And who do we have here?" she asked looking the kit over, noting the few bruises on her face.

Shippo

"My daughter and I found her in the forest." Kyoto said, rolling up Kanami's shirt and sleeves to show any other cuts and scars. "We were coming back from our little garden when we found her. We... also ran into an ice cat, but I only vaguely can recall her."

Kalshion

"An ice cat... huh... I haven't seen to many of them around these parts, namely near the harbors and shores, mostly when hurricanes and such come ashore," said Sahari as she inspected the cuts and bruises.

She saw that several of the cuts were set in; while others were fresh, only a few weeks old or just a few days. Without saying a sword she took the kit from Kyoto and carried her into the clinic where she set her down on a table with a polyester bed.

"Some of these cuts I can't heal," she said to Kyoto; assuming the woman had followed her. She took some red liquad and placed it on a small peice of limber and spread it on some of the cuts.

After a few seconds the redness in the cuts, which indicated blood, had gone away to reveal just a normal indent in the skin. "It'll take a few days, but eventually all these cuts, minus those that I can't do, will go away," she said and looked at the bruises.

She pondered what to do about them and handed Kyoto a bottle of liquad she had just created. "This little one won't like the smell," she laughed, "but it'll help with her bruises, just take some into your hand and run along any bruises you find, they should go away over night, if so just keep the bottle, once you've emptied it just bring it back here and I'll refill it," she smiled at Kyoto before bundling the kit back up and handing her off.

"Make sure she get's sleep and a hearty meal at that, sadly, it'll be hard for us to tell who this little one belongs to as her scent is very different from anything I've smelled before, it might be quite awhile, perhaps months, before her scent returns to normal," said Sahari before she turned toward the window. "That's about all I can do for now, my supplies are running a tad low so if you can bring her in a week from now I'll be able to do a more thorough examination," she said before hear ears perked at the sound of distant thunder.

She walked over to the window and looked out; the clouds were many miles away, but Kitsune hearing was exceptional. "I think it's best you head home, Kyoto, there's a storm coming and I don't want you to get caught," she said before a thought came to her. "Now that I think about it, did you want me to come over tomorrow and do a check up on your daughter? I think it's been about a month now," she asked.

Shippo

Kyoto takes the bottle of the liquid and puts it in her kimono for now. "If it's one thing I'm good at, it's cooking and gardening." Then she thought of what to do with Yume. "Yes, please come by tomorrow. I don't think anything is wrong now, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt." She bows as much as she can without dropping Kanami, "I'll be sure to get a name out of her soon, if I can." and with that, she leaves the clinic to go back to her home.

Kalshion

Sahari bows and watches at Kyoto leaves; she then heads out the back door. "Ok gents! We have a storm coming in; finish up the harvesting and then head on home," she said to her employees.

Amongst those were several kits who helped with the herb harvesting and processing. She watched as the kits of the group got together and carried their bags full of herbs toward the proessing shed and placed them down just inside the door.

One kit smiled and looked at her bag. "Big bag," she commented and set hers by the rest. "Are we going to process these tomorrow?" She asked, looking up at Sahari as she approuched.

"Yes we are, and once done, you'll take the product back to your villages. Just remember, only take what you can easily carry and don't over due it ok?" she instructed them. The kits nodded before heading off to grab their things and then head home.

She watched the kitsune adults as they had their eyes on the kits; it was always like this, even though the kits were very well capable of taking care of themselves, they were still kids and thus had to be supervised.

As the kits disappeared over the hill heading toward a T intersection; where a group of guardsmen would escort them the rest of the way, she turned her attention to the growing storm and shook her head. "L'kas?" she said to one of her workers.

"Ma'am?" L'kas, a kitsune with orange ears and tail, stepped up from her harvesting.

"I think that storm might spawn a wind funnel, can you please make sure the sheds and processing facilities are secure before leaving?" she asked her.

"I will make certain; if you want, I can stay on-hand just in case," L'kas offered.

Sahari thought about it and nodded. "Let the others know, if they want to stay and help out in case the storm worsens they may," with that she left to secure her home.

I hate wind funnels... but there a fact of life she thought.

Shippo

Around 20 minutes pass before Kyoto finally gets home when she initially left, where Yume is waiting with dinner almost fully prepared. She goes inside to set Kanami down on one of the couches she has, then lays a blanket over her that was folded on one of the arms of the couch. She then goes into the kitchen, "How's dinner coming along?" she asked Yume.

"Almost done, just the main course still going." Yume answered, keeping an eye on the pot. The rest of the food was already laid out on the table, smelling quite delicious for anyone who takes a whiff of it. "Um, where did you go anyway?" She wondered.

"Just the clinic near here." Kyoto said, "I just wanted to make sure this one here was alright. By the way, Sahari will be dropping by tomorrow to check on you." Kyoto said this so that Yume will know what's coming to her so that she can explain anything when Sahari does come by.

Yume only sighs, but says nothing in return. For the time being, most of what was on her mind was for her uncle, which was Kyoto's older brother, who they haven't seen for roughly 3 years. "I'm sure he'll be glad to see how much you've grown, Yume." Kyoto said, rubbing Yume's head in the process. She only nods, not really wanting to say much.

Kalshion

Kanami stirred; her nose twitching at the smell of food. Her eyes fluttered open and she stared straight. She noticed a few chairs near the couch she was laying on; she steaded herself with her hand and pushed up, gripping the blanket with her free hand.

She sat up and looked around the room; she knew she was in a home but wasn't sure whos or even why. She felt a slight burning sensation on her arm which made her curious but she was more so focused on the smell which was making her hungry.

Shippo

"I'll go ahead and finish the rest of dinner. Why don't you get the table ready for the most part." Kyoto told Yume.

"Yeah, alright." Yume said, going through a few drawers for a few things, then walks over to the table in the kitchen to set them down, which are a couple utensils and napkins in case they are needed. "I think... I made enough for the girl, but I don't know for certain." Yume said after a few moments.

"If not, I can always make more." Kyoto mentioned, getting ready to put out the fire to set the main course of the dinner on the table.

Kalshion

Kanami chose that moment to get off the couch while still holding the blanket over her. She looked around the living room before silently heading toward the kitchen and seeing a kit and an adult kitsune; she looked at them with curious eyes, watching what they were doing.

Shippo

As Kyoto was putting the food out on the table, one of her ears moves towards the sound of Kanami, then takes a look over, "Oh, so your awake." She motions for her to come over to sit down, "I'm fairly certain your hungry right now." she mentions, hoping that she can get Kanami full enough to be satisfied.

Yume, on the other hand, stays quiet for now and sits down after setting the table, then waits a bit longer for Kyoto and Kanami to be ready before she begins.

Kalshion

Kanami blinks; unsure what was said, but the sight of a table with food on it spikes her interest as she takes a seat and looks at the silverware with mild confusion.

Shippo

"Yume, go ahead and start. I might as well teach her a bit about eating with silverware." Kyoto said to Yume, then proceeded to show Kanami how to eat with the various silverware there is.

Dinnertime for Akari and her father has ended for now, with her father washing the dishes, she stands close to her mother to watch over a little. "I hope you get better soon..." Akari said, with a few tears rolling down her cheek. Her mother is asleep for now, with some sort of odd illness that no one really could diagnose. The one thing that is fairly noticeable is that her mother is quite pregnant, and no doubt getting close to birth. The exact time is unknown, but a doctor or two have mentioned that if she does give birth, that it is unlikely she'll make it through the birth.

Kalshion

She watched and mimiced the movements; her brain finally kicking in and remembering how it was all done, having forgotten before due to years of not using such instruments.

She scoped up a spoon full of food and tasted it; then began eating, it was very tasty to her and she felt relieved that she wasn't eating the fruits she was before, or scavenging. Though in the back of her small mind she wondered if this would remain, or she would have to go back out into the wilderness the next day, it was something she was used to, having been helped at least twice before by two other families - only to get shunned and thrown out the next day.

Kanami fought the tears though that she obviously had and just kept eating.

Kyoto thought to herself for a moment, then decided not to say anything for a moment to sit down in her own chair to get a bit of food herself. "How should I put this..." She began, trying to think on how to word it, "Do you have a name, or something that you call yourself?" she asked her.

Kalshion

Kanami stopped briefly and looked at her quizzingly; she couldn't quite make it out so she shook her head in response.

Shippo

Yume takes a moment to think, "Let's.. put it this way." trying to make it as simple as possible for Kanami to understand, as well as using various hand gestures to show what she means, "My name is Yume, or what I'm called." Then she points towards Kyoto, "That is my mother, Kyoto. So, what about you? What do you refer to yourself?"

Kyoto ponders as to whether or not Kanami will understand what Yume had said. "This will be one interesting night for me and her." She thought, repeating it a few times in her head.

Kalshion

Kanami blinks and looks at her plate, she notes the small round vegetables that she hadn't yet touched and also some longer ones that were an orange color. Her mind starts working and while she can't speak due to not knowing how to, she concentrated and formed her name as being 'Kanami' and looked up at the older kitsune with a rather questionable look.

Shippo

"Interesting way to put it." Kyoto noted, "Ka...na..mi... not a bad name." She then got back to eating to finish up dinner.

Yume finishes a little early than she normally does, then goes to wash her part of the dishes. Afterwards, she proceeds to go into her room to do a bit of writing to help Kanami with learning.

"She finished a bit early tonight." Kyoto shrugged, "I'll leave her to teach you about writing I suppose, especially reading." After some time has passed, she finishes up her food, then begins to wash the dishes, and to wait for Kanami to finish hers.

Kalshion

Kanami didn't fret about what ate; she didn't care either way as it was food to her. She finished her plate off as her ears perked at the sound of distant thunder, it didn't scare her as much as a normal child her age but that might've been because she had been in a forest for the past few years.

She hoped off her chair and walked over to Kyoto, placing a hand on the kitsune's skirt. While she was used to thunder, that was when she was alone and in her hidy hole, she was in an unfamiliar place and started to get nervous now.

Shippo

Kyoto stopped what she was doing for a moment to look at Kanami. "Hm, just a bit afraid of the thunder, huh?" She said, giggling a little. "Yume was like that some years ago." She said afterwards, picking her up and holding her for a bit. She then continues with the dishes, despite being short a hand, but still manages either way. Then, after a few short moments, her ears go up as if hearing something from afar. She stops again, then walks to Yume's room to put Kanami down. "Yume, watch her for a moment, I need to confirm something." Kyoto said to Yume, then heading outside to look at the sky in the distance.

In the direction she was looking, there were little trees, and luckily, it was also the direction the storm was coming in. Had she not studied the wind, she may not pick things up that most other foxes in this area could. "Oh boy, I'm sensing those particular signs now..." She worriedly said. "Why now of all times.." Complaining as she went back inside to tie some things down. "This sure has been an active year for some odd reason, but that's nature for you." Complaining still, but in her thoughts for now. After she did the initial preparations, she quickly left once more to warn the others in the area about the wind funnel that may form not too long from now.

Kalshion

Sahari didn't like it; the winds around her farm had gotten worse. She had noticed the small signs of a wind tunnel that may form and had gotten nervous since she hadn't yet seen if L'kas had returned.

Finally the door flew open and L'kas came running in; she wiped the sweat that was forming on her face and looked out through the small windows of her door. "It's getting pretty bad out there, the weather this season has been so very freaky as of late. We don't usually get these types of winds until the third season and we are only in our first," she stated as she pushed herself off the door and walked over to the table.

"Let's just hope the wind wards we have on the house and the other buildings are strong enough, if not we'll be doing some repairing tomorrow," said Sahari as she glanced out the window.

***

The feeling of being picked up made a memory of her's return; she had seen a girl of thirteen years of age holding her carefully, a smile on her face, while another kitsune adult who was female watched her tentively. It wasn't until she was put back down in another room completely did she realize she had partially zoned out.

Kanami watched the older kitsune leave and had looked over at the other kit, she knew her name as 'Yume' at least from what she heard the other kitsune address her as. She had stayed close to Yume, not wanting to be left alone for any amount of time, though she was curious as to what Yume was doing and cocked her head curiously.

Shippo

Yume sighed for a moment, but she might as well look after her. "Makes me wonder what's going on." She pondered, finishing up what she was writing. Then, she carefully brought Kanami next to her so she can look at the paper with the writing. On it, there were just simple characters for the alphabet, and a few simple words with no change in some of the characters. "We'll be teaching you quite a bit, so I'll start by teaching you to read. Writing will soon come." She said, then starts to explain what the different characters are, what they mean, and how to form words with them in a way that Kanami can understand.

***

Hearing Kyoto's warning from afar, Akari's father begins to get some of the more valuable items tied down and stored in a safe place. He quickly goes around the house to make sure that everything is safely tied down enough, hoping that this time, the wind funnel won't be powerful. He heads for the room where his wife and daughter are in, then carries his wife to a safer place. "Come Akari, we're going to be in for a rough night." He said to her.

"I'm.. scared...." Akari was very frightened now, and stayed extremely close to her father, not wanting to be left behind.

"Calm down, we'll make it through, just as we did the last few times." Reassuring her that she is safe as long as she stays close to him. Once he's in a small room in the middle of the house, he carefully lays the woman down, placing a small pillow below her head to give some support. He then brings Akari over so she can sit on his lap and hold her close, to comfort her.

Kalshion

Kanami watches and listens to Yume as she explains; she nods her head in understanding.

Her ears perked though as the rain began to fall outside; as it did some of the rain got into the room and onto Kanami. When this happened it froze instantly and caused her to jump back in surprise.

Shippo

"Err, guess I'll have to patch the roof up." Yume said, look at the roof. A few drops of water also fall onto Yume, "Yikes! That is cold!" She yelped out, wiping off the rain water. She stands up and walks out of her room to another area of the house to get a few patches, a hammer, and a couple nails. She grabs everything with one hand, then walks to grab a chair with her other hand to bring with her to her room. Once she gets the chair in place, she proceeds to step onto the chair, then starts to close up the part of the roof that's somewhat leaking through. "There, that should do." She said, as she finished up with the patching. Yume returns the chair to where it was, then starts to hear the wind pick up more, and more. "Uh... I.. hope.. mother comes back...." She worriedly said.

And just a few minutes later, Kyoto returns, drenched with cold water. "It........ is.... FREEZING..." Kyoto said, shivering crazily to warm up. She quickly secures the door and goes to her own room to change to something else before she gets a cold. Five minutes later, she comes out to Yume's room, then notices the little patch-job Yume did, "Your room leaking again?" she wondered.

"Yeah. What's going on?" Yume asked her, somewhat worried.

"Grab the papers, because we're going to be having a rough time in the next 20 or so minutes." Kyoto warned, going to the bathroom, which happens to be somewhat in the center of the house. She had already put in some pillows in there for padding.

Yume grabs hold of the papers, then takes Kanami's hand and brings her into the bathroom as well. "Is it that again?" Yume asked. Kyoto only nodded this time, since it seems pretty apparent it's becoming a routine.

Kalshion

Sahari winced as the wind funnel takes shape and spirals to the ground just a half mile from her home as she and her employees bolted for the shelter. The sound was deafening as it ripped across the ground and slammed straight through one of her silos, the metal screeched and warped before snapping and joining the debris that was being spun.

The spiraling funnel continued to snake across the ground until it came within a hundred feet of Sahari's house, her wind wards had started giving off an electrical 'click' as the winds slammed into them from the outside. As the wind continued to pick up; a piece of metal debris speared through the outer walls of the house and embedded itself near a large pipe. This pipe came from under the house and snaked its way to another building whose wards had already begun to fail, inside was a tank full of blue magical liquid that gave off a red twinkle like effect.

Wind snaked its way through that very building and under the tanks foundation as it began to lift it up, but as the funnel passed by the farm the wind start to die down and the tank stopped wobbling. However, a hissing sound could be heard as the volatile mix of magical liquid slowly leaked out.

In her home, Sahari was in the basement with those employees who had stayed behind to help. Finally the roaring wind faded away as the funnel lifted off the ground, Sahari quickly exited the basement and stared to the north as the funnel disappeared into the sky leaving behind a torrent of rain.

She scowled as she surveyed the destruction; but now she had the rain to worry about. "Everyone back in the house!" she shouted as the rain had now begun to flood the basement they had hid in.

****

Kanami was huddled near Yume; hiding her face from the deafening sound of the wind. She was very scared, and afraid, as normally if she saw a storm of this intensity she'd flee the area to a cave near her home but in this case she didn't have that luck.

****

A short distance from the farm land a human on horseback watched the storm as it ripped across the lands, its wind funnel had disappeared out of sight. "Man..." he said with a shake of his head, "and I thought our tornado's were rough," he snapped the reins on the horse and turned it around.

"At least we can hope that the elder of this land will be dealt with, assuming they stay hidden until the appointed times," the man smiled as he held up a red crystal in his hand. The crystal rotated in his palm from side to side, an image in the center getting his attention.

"Good," he said toward the image and pocketed it before turning back toward the storm. "Only a matter of time," a satisfied smile creased his face.

"Ha!" he shouted while snapping the reigns and bolting back to his camp.

Shippo

Yume was holding Kanami somewhat tight, because she was scared herself. Once the storm had passed, Kyoto made a hand gesture for those two to stay there until she comes back. She then went outside of the bathroom and slowly walked around the house to see if there were damage. Fortunately, most of the house was intact, but once she got into the kitchen, she saw that it was partially caved in with minor damage. "Phew..." She sighed, "at least it wasn't as bad as last time." After having said that, she checked the rest of the house and went back to the bathroom, "Alright you two, come out, but be a bit careful while walking around." she said to them, then left the house to check on any others.

Yume sighed, her heart still beating quite rapidly. She slowly got up with Kanami and proceeded to look through the house herself. "Repairing some of this... won't be easy. Come home already, it's been too long..." Complaining by the fact that her uncle has yet to return from whatever it was he is doing.

***

"Stay here, alright?" Akari's father said to Akari, then slowly walked out of the bathroom there to see what damage has been done. Their house was fairly close to the main fox village where Kyoto resides in, but he decided to not live directly within the village and lives on the outskirts so they're not around too many people. He steps outside to see if there were any exterior damage, and once he looked on the roof, there were just a little bit of damage, but nothing too bad. "This shouldn't take long to repair. At least it went up before it really did too much damage." He sighed, walking back inside to get his daughter and to put his wife back in their bed.

Akari's mother had woken from the storm, but her voice sounds very weak, where a normal person can not hear her very well, "W-what... is going... on?" she asked, weakly.

"A storm passed by, but nothing was damaged and we're both fine. I'm going to do a few repairs and I'll be back." He answered, then turned to Akari, "Be a good girl, and be sure to get her some food. I think it's been a while now." he said to her, then left after grabbing a few tools to fix the roof.

Akari nodded, then went into the kitchen to fix a simple meal for her mother. Akari was strong for her age, despite her body being weaker than normal than what she should be, having much hope for her mother to get well. Once she was done, she took the food back to her mother, got on the bed to sit next to her and watched her eat it slowly.

Kalshion

Sahari surveyed the damage. "Two Silo's, a barn, one of the processing plants.." she said as she looked at the various destroyed buildings. "This'll take a few days to fix," she commented with a sigh.

"At least no one was hurt," L'kas said as she walked up to her and then turned toward the damage. "We can afford to lose this, but we can't afford to lose lives," she commented.

"Yea, well, it's almost late and such so we'll do the clean up and repairs tomorrow," said Sahari. As her employees went into the house, she stayed outside to keep an eye on things, with her wards down, bandits would have easy pickings at her supplies and crops.

***

Kanami followed Yume and looked at the damages with her own eyes; she had wondered why the wind wasn't as damaging, as she had witnessed time and time again back in the forest where tree's would get uprooted.

She kept a firm grip on Yume's clothing; scared and nervous. She didn't show it, however, and instead kept a neutral expression.

Shippo

"I think mom can explain why it wasn't bad this time... She knows more than I do." Yume mentioned to Kanami, probably doubting she'll understand anyway. "Welp, might as well start some of the work before mom gets back." Sighing as she was talking, she began to clear out some of the rubble to place outside of the house. As there wasn't much, she managed to get it cleared fairly quickly, then began to partially repair the side of the house.

Roughly 20 minutes later, Kyoto returned, a bit relieved that most of the town is relatively intact. "I'm glad it missed us directly..." Sighing of relief. "Well, I see Yume kept herself busy, hehe.." Kyoto noticed the rubble outside, then walked in to see Yume doing a bit of work herself. "Yume, how about you make us a snack for now, my stomach happened to be growling as I was walking back." Asking her, and just after she finished, her stomach apparently growled again, with a blush appearing on Kyoto's cheeks.

Yume couldn't help but giggle, "Yeah, sure, hehe" She smiled, stopped working, then walked over to the counter and searched through the cabinets to see what she can make without cooking. "Aha," Yume was getting an idea, "I know what I can make." She grabbed a few things, placed them on the counter, then headed off to the back of the house. Once she was there, she picked up a bag with "Ice" on it, then returned back to the kitchen. "Since working made me sweat, how about something cold for once."

"Actually, that's not a bad idea." Kyoto smiled as she was working, "What do you plan to make?"

Yume kept quiet, to make it a secret for the while.

Kanami stood curiously at the window and watched as the storm moved away; she cocked her head curious and placed a finger by her mouth. In the distance she had noticed a funnel had once again come down though it was over the hill now and to far to be of concern.

As she watched; a sudden flash of light illuminated the area followed by a massive bang that sent Kanami scurring for cover, hiding behind Yume with a very scared expression as tears began to fill her eyes.

***

Across the ocean; in a castle that overlooked said ocean. A man wearing a long cloak that dragged across the ground snickered evilly to himself. "So, they still haven't noticed?" he asked.

"No, your majesty"

"Then, step it up a notch, I think... tomorrow.. have another storm hit them..." he tapped his chin with a grin.

"Your majesty, the mages need time to rest, this tak--"

The king turned slowly on his feet and glared at the one giving the report, who in turn had a cold chill go down his back before bowing and running off to relay the orders.

With that done; the king walked over to a plate with a roosted turkey on it and ripped a leg off, taking a bite out of it and not bothering to use proper table manners.

Above him, along a beam that ran through his room, someone was watching and observing his every move. The figure nodded to themselves before finding a place better suited to observation for the night.

Shippo

Yume jumps as well from the sudden crack of thunder, then jumps again from Kanami getting behind her. "My... heart... is....... racing..." Panting quite heavily.

Kyoto laughed, not necessarily phased by the thunder at all. "I suppose one would get used to it after a while." Then she continued to work on the wall.

Yume sighs, then finishes what's making, which happens to be a sort of fruit smoothie. Luckily for her, the ice was already crushed to be used for another purpose. All that was needed was to get the juice out of the various fruit for the different flavors. She takes a few cups, places ice in them, then the fruit juice she got. The smoothies she made were strawberry, cherry, orange, grape, and peach. "All done. Wasn't easy.." Yume said, then brought Kanami in front of her, "Why don't you choose. You should be able to sniff out which is what."

Kalshion

The tears still in her eyes; she looked at the fruits that were laid before her and sniffed them before pointing at the cherries, which she loved.

Yume picked Kanami up just enough so Kanami can grab the cub herself.

Kyoto decided to take a small break from repairs, then looked through the hole in the wall to look at the sky. She can only see a little of the sky and maybe a couple visible stars to look at. "Those do smell good." Kyoto says, walking to the counter. She decides to take one of peach for now and takes a sip. "Haven't had one of these in a while." She was quite happy with the smoothie, considering she hasn't had one in quite some months.

"Um, mom... could you explain the odd weather, maybe...?" Yume asked, wondering what's going on with the weather lately.

Kyoto sets the cup down to try and think of a good explanation, "Well, it's not easy... but this wind funnel missed us directly, so we weren't affected too much." She began to explain, but then dives a bit deeper, "Although I don't know much as a real wind element, I do know that it's been abnormally active than it should be. It's only a theory, but..." Kyoto took in a few breaths, more than likely dreading what she's about to say, "I think there are some people, or some thing... that may be causing it. I just hope I'm wrong."

"But didn't history say.. something about stuff being destroyed?" Yume persisted with the subject.

Kyoto only nodded, not necessarily wanting to give a verbal response.

"Then how can they be abnormal?" Yume continued.

Kyoto sighs, "High level magic is required to make an artificial wind funnel, and I don't think one alone is enough. Which is why I doubt that is it." Kyoto looks back to the hole in the roof, "At least, that's what I hope anyway."

Kanami drinks from her cup; enjoying the taste of her smoothie. After a few minutes her cup is empty and she has a big smile with pits of her drink resting around her mouth.

After which she blinks and lets out a tiny yawn. Her eyes becoming heavy with sleepiness.

Shippo

Yume looks at some of the leftover cherries and thinks she can make a bit more with them. "I think I'll make some for myself I guess." Yume said, walking to where the cherries are and begins to make another.

"Guess I'll just put her to bed." Kyoto noticed how Kanami is getting tired, then decided to pick her up and take her into Yume's room. She puts Kanami onto Yume's bed for now so she can get the futon out for her to lay on, including a heavy blanket just in case. Once she was done, she placed Kanami on the futon for her to get some good sleep. She returned to the kitchen to let Yume know of how things will work out.

Yume was about half done with the second cherry smoothie and acknowledged that Kanami would be in her room for the time being. Then she began to hum to herself until she was done with the smoothie.

"Ya know, I think I'll have a second myself." Kyoto was thirsty still it seemed, so she ended up drinking the strawberry one and continued to do the repair work on the wall.

Kalshion

Kanami laid there; her mind at work with what she had initially been taught, she spoke softly to herself in repeating the letters of the alphabet. As she was about to close her eyes an odd noise caught her attention, causing her turn toward a window, she blinked and listened but whatever had caused the noise had gone away.

She shrugged to herself and just turned back over and pulled the blanket closer to herself before falling asleep.

Sahari sighed as she sat on the porch and watched the distant sky; the storm had mostly passed though there were scattered numbers of clouds in the area. She had one ear on her surroundings while the other was attuned to her own home just in case someone needed her.

"You know, it was this type of a day that my little sister got exiled, on a day with rain and a wind funnel that touched down just north of the village..." Sahari pondered as she recalled a memory before letting out a depressing sigh. "I think it's best I visit mothers grave soon, it's been nearly a season since I last paid tribute to it," she said and glanced to the east.

In the distance she saw a herd of Rapures, raptor like animals that ate plants and meat. Largely domesticated, but allowed to roam free once they got 'too' old to work. Sahari had at least eight of them inside a barn that, luckily, had been missed by the wind funnel.

Shippo

As Kyoto continued to work on repairs, only about a quarter of the way through, "Yume, why don't you go to bed early tonight. I'll get the smoothies in a few moments, it's pretty chilly anyway, so they won't go bad yet." she said to her, since there's going to be a long day tomorrow.

"Alright, I suppose your right." Yume nodded, finishing up the smoothie she made. Then she walked off to her room to change into her night clothing and sat on her bed. "Oh yeah.. gonna have to get clothes for you too... I still wonder why we dyed the white though." Pondering over the thoughts for a while, before she shrugged and laid down. "I guess we're gonna have to make more pink dye then, heh..." She thought to herself about home much more dye will be needed.

***

Once her mother was finished eating, Akari took the dishes and lightly washed them in the kitchen to wash better the next morning. Her father happened to be in there to say, "Go on ahead to bed for tonight. I'll need you in the morning."

Akari nodded then walked to her room. She changed her clothing to lay in bed. She turned over onto her stomach to look out the window for a while, thinking to herself as to what's going to happen now. "Mother... I want you better now..." She cried out, silently. Eventually, she cried herself to sleep, hoping that the next day would be better.

Meanwhile, her father was doing slight work in the kitchen to make sure everything was clean for now, then went off to his room with his wife. He sighed to himself, being hopeful that she will get better soon. He changed his clothes and crawled into bed himself to try and get some sleep for the long day ahead.

Kalshion

During the night, Kanami had begun to tossel on the bed, her mind was running amock with dreams.

Dreams

"It's pretty!!" exclaimed a five year old kit who was wearing a typical celebratory kimono. She looked cute as she spun around in front of a small mirror in what appeared to be her room, which had a small bed and a box of toys in it.

Behind her an adult kitsune watched with a satisfied smile. "You look pretty, you'll be the star of the show tonight," she said to the kit who looked very excited.

The kit giggled afterwards as the night went on; but something had gone horribly wrong.

As the dream shifted from pleasant, to horrifying, the kit found herself running through town with several guards behind her. Some had boys and were launching arrows at her, others had spears and more had swords. Tears streamed from the kits eyes before rushing into a forest.

end dream

Kanami sprang up from her rest; her breathing was exasperated from the dream. She stared straight at the wall and then glanced to her left and noticed a sleeping Yume.

She sat there on the cot and let out a sigh; realizing that what she had just had was a dream telling by how she wasn't being chased by guards. She gave a sigh of relief and got out of the coat and walked over to a window, placed her hands on the sill and boosted herself up, she then stared out at the pleasant landscape.

****

Sahari awoke that morning and found herself sleeping on the porch, she had fallen asleep while on watch. When she sat up she noticed she had a blanket on her and looked around.

"You're awake," L'kas said as she handed Sahari a hot cup of coffee. "You know you'll get sick if you keep on sleeping out here," she rasped.

"Oh hush," she blushed before taking a sip. "Everyone else still asleep?"

"Yep"

"When they wake up; make a hearty breakfast, because we'll be busy cleaning up and repairing. By the way, can you run to town and the surrounding neighbors and see if any of them can help?" Sahari asked her. L'kas nodded.

Shippo

The morning sun had broken the horizon, Kyoto being the first one up to get a few things done before she has to leave. She was cleaning up the kitchen some more and getting some covers for the hole in the wall to keep some of the warmth in. A bit of time pass by before she walks into Yume's room to notice that Kanami has been up, "I see your awake now." She said to her, walking inside to get Yume up.

Yume only turned away, not wanting to be bothered much from her sleep. After some persistence with Kyoto, she finally wakes up, still a bit groggy from being woken up. "Mmm.. I'm up....." She lazily said.

"Well hurry up, I need to leave soon." Kyoto hurried along, then walked out to do one or two more things before leaving. She also left some money and a note for Yume so that they can get clothes for Kanami. With all that done, she left the home to the clinic.

Kalshion

Kanami let out a tiny yawn as she hoped down from the window sill and stared curiously at Yume.

***

L'kas walked along the road leading to the village; she let out a yawn of her own as she stretched her arms high into the air. "Ughs, I hate morning," she grumbled as she spotted the village in the distance. "Well, I guess I shall start trying to find helpers," she said.

Shippo

Yume let out a yawn of her own and stretched out her arms and back. A couple times you'd hear a small pop come from her back, "Ahh, that felt good." she let out, then got out of bed to stretch her legs out. "Hm, what to have for breakfast." Pondering over what to eat, she took some time to figure out what to wear and changed clothes for the day.

***

Akari had gotten up a little earlier than she usually does and yawned. She sat up and looked out the window, the sun pointing straight into her room. She rubbed her eyes, stood up from the bed to cover the window so it's not so bright. She didn't really bother changing for now and went to the bathroom to comb her hair a bit, then washed off her face and walked to the kitchen. She let out a small sigh and began to make a bit of food for herself to eat to pass the time. "I don't think I really want to know what today will bring..." She dreaded quite a few things that may or may not happen.

Kalshion

Kanami stood there with a sad expression; she was beginning to feel ignored by how Yume hadn't said a word to her. Her ears droopped down and she began to look sad as she stared at Yume.

Shippo

Once Yume had finished getting her clothes on, she turned her head to Kanami, and noticed how sad she was. "Heh, sorry. Morning to you." She said to her, turning back to her closet to close the door. "I think I know, but I wonder about you..." Thinking out loud about breakfast, and referring to Kanami about what she will eat. "Seems like she likes cherries, but I don't know..." continuing to think out loud.

"Ah well, I'll figure out something. Come on, we'll see what we can come up with." She said to Kanami, then walked to the kitchen to start making a small breakfast for the two of them. She picked up the note that was left on the counter then read it. "Ohhh, today will be nice." Referring to the fact that she will be buying Kanami a few bits of clothing.

Kalshion

Kanami slowly followed Yume to the kitchen; she stopped just short of the entrance with both hands peering around the corner. She watched Yume with curious eyes.

"Hehe, this works out in the end anyway. Need to go shopping apparently." Yume said to herself, laying out some ingredients for a simple breakfast. "Now where did those matches go..." She was looking around for a few matches to start a fire, but it so happens she can't find any. She looked above, below, even in the cabinets. "Aww, oh well..." A bit saddened, but nothing she can do. Sighing for a moment, she turned to Kanami, grabbed the money and walked over to her. "It's time to go shopping now. Seems like I ran out of stuff. Hehe." Nervously laughing, but went out anyway with Kanami to start doing some shopping for clothes and food.

Kalshion

Kanami cocked her head confusingly at what Yume had said; but followed her eitherway as they headed out the door.

As they headed down the road leading to the village. Kanami walked at a slow pace as she looked around nervously while keeping one hand on Yume's kimono.

Shippo

Yume thought for a second, then decided to take Kanami's hand that was holding onto her kimono. "I think this will be better. First stop, clothes!" She excitedly said, going toward a simple clothing shop. Once they arrived, they went inside to have a look around. "Now let's see, what would you like to have here..." She pondered, trying to see if Kanami will pick some out for herself.

Kalshion

She stared at what were on the racks; the store itself was rather small though in Kanami's mind she figured it would be; considering it was only a village they were in. The racks themselves only had a few choices on them, mostly kimono's, but some had two-peice outfits such as work outs while others had shirts and shorts or skirts.

She migrated over to a rack that a light yellow kimono with a red trim. She looked it over with curious eyes before looking up at Yume.

Shippo

Walking with Kanami, she took note of the kimono and looked at the price. "A bit.. pricey, but eh, just this once." She said, patting Kanami on the head. She took the kimono to the front to pay for it, then left with Kanami hand-in-hand. "At least this will be better until uncle comes home." She mentioned out of nowhere, then went to the market to pick out a few things that she had money for. "This should last us 'till then..." She said to herself. "Now where would I get matches..." She sighed, "Eh, I suppose we'll walk around for a bit." she then finished off her shopping, paid for the groceries, then walked around a bit with Kanami, as nothing she had needed to be kept cold.

Kalshion

An older kitsune walked briskly down the village market square; his clothing extravagent compared to what everyone else was wearing. Along either side of him were two other kitsunes wearing identical kimono's, both of which carried swords and both were fire based.

Kanami's caught sight of the older kitsune and instantly grew afraid, hiding herself behind Yume with fear struck eyes.

The older kitsune, which happened to be the village elder, laughed harshly when he saw how Kanami had reacted to his presence. "Well well, at least 'someone' know's what to do when they see me," he grinned as he began to approuch Yume and Kanami, Kanami growing more fearful with each step he took.

Shippo

Yume paid attention to Kanami's reaction and wrapped her arms around back to keep Kanami close. She didn't want to cause unwanted attention, so she stepped out of the way, but kept a very close eye as to what was going on. "Seems I've got more to worry about today than I wanted to originally..." She said in her mind. She was also thinking that hopefully, Kanami will be able to explain her situation enough to understand the situation.

Kalshion

The Elder had descended upon them and was looking down on Kanami while completely ignoring Yume. "Huh.. I never seen you before," he said in a harsh tone before backing off and looking at one of his guards. "Eh.. you.. take this kit.. I wanna see who she belongs to," he ordered him.

The guard gave a curt bow and glared at Yume. "By his order, she is to be placed under our custody," he said and awaited her response.

Meanwhile, just down the street and near a stall selling a fruit, a fire kitsune had been drawn to the attention that was gathering around Yume and Kanami. "Ughs... he's at it again," she grumbled and handed off the apple she was 'about' to buy to the salesman. "You'll have to excuse me..." she grumbled and stuffed her hands into her kimono and began to walk at a slow pace toward the crowd.

Shippo

On the other side of town, Akari had been asked to go out and grab medicine from the clinic. The unfortunate thing was that she was in a daze to really pay attention to where she was going. After a few minutes, she accidentally bumped into the elder and fell back onto the ground. "Oh.. sorry... I wasn't.. paying attention.." She was quite apologetic as to what happened.

Yume, on the other hand, began to growl a bit, when the little distraction came just a moment ago. "Eto~" She murmured, a bit worried as to what's about to happen.

Kalshion

The elder scowled and got up; raising his hand into the air. "You little... how dare you do that!" he shouted as he was about to slap her - when suddenly he stopped in mid stride.

Some distance away; Sahari had two of her fingers together as she chanted something. "Lima-Ha'da-Kasu-Ha'de-Ne'ra'la'no'ma'shen!" she finished off as a vortex of fire erupted around her, instantly getting the elders attention.

It was enough to where L'kas, who had only just now realized that Sahari was there, ran in and picked Akari up and got her out of the firing line. "I don't think Sahari would want to deep fry a little kit like you ok?" she giggled lightly at Akari as she huddled down near a building and placed the kit down and watched.

Shippo

Yume noticed it was her cue to get out of there as well. She turned around, grabbed Kanami's hand and bolted out of there. Though she didn't use magic, she did have enough sense as to when it was being used on occasions, this being one of them. "I think, we made it out..." She said, trying to calm down a bit from what happened.

Akari though, looked up at L'kas, then muttered something about not really being a full fox. Whether or not L'kas heard her, she didn't know.

Yume kept Kanami safe with her, making sure she doesn't actually look as to what may happen to the elder. "Though, why did it seem I recognize that girl..." She thought out loud, as if recognizing Akari somewhat.

Kalshion

One of the elders guards, having noticed Yume bolting, had initially given chase but had lost them. "Blast it," he said annoyingly as he scanned the streets he did so for only a few short minutes until he spotted the two of them.

"Hey!" he shouted and gave chase once again; but when Kanami looked past Yume and saw the guard her blood turned into ice like when she saw the elder. As the guard approuched a puddle of standing water, it suddenly turned ice-cold, causing him to fall flat on his face just feet away from them both.

***

Sahari stood her ground; as did the elder, who was now very annoyed. "Stand. Aside," he warned her just Sahari just stood there.

Finally he made his move; being a water fox, he summon water to do his bidding and forced it again Sahari's flame, but to his dismay, the water turned into steam the moment it hit.

She laughed, deeply amused by the Elders actions. Hot enough to turn water into steam, but cool enough to not put my own fire out.. a delicite process she thought. She was about to explain to him about how hot her flames were, before he gave her a stern warning and bolted out of the market square with his last guard behind him.

With a heavy sigh her flames began to die down until they were nothing more than small licks of fire. "That was disappointing," she said and placed a hand on her hip.

A short distance behind, L'kas smiled at Akari while saying, "you should be safe now."

Shippo

Yume looked at the fallen guard and paused for a moment. "I'm going to guess you are in a similar boat my mom was in when she first used magic..." She said to Kanami. After that, she decided to run back home with Kanami and thought it best to stay there where it is safer.

"Um.. t-thanks..." Akari lightly said to L'kas. She looked around for a moment, but she actually had forgotten where the clinic was. "Uh.. wh-where.. is the clinic?" She asked her, "I need medicine.. for my mom..." Akari did have a sort of depressed face on her from the situation with her mother.

Kalshion

L'kas looked at her and blinked before smiling and looking over at Sahari who had walked over to them. "Sorry about that," Sahari said as she knelt down in front of Akari.

"I heard you say Clinic, I run it, what does your mother need?" she asked her.

***

When they had gotten home, Kanami let out a sigh of relief, having been glad to get away from the village. Though she felt a bit wozzy, she ignored it for the time being and just wonder what she would be eating, for just a second later her stomach started to growl which made her blush with embarssment.

Shippo

Yume calmed down after a few minutes with her stomach growling, just like Kanami's. "Haha, we're both hungry." She laughed, trying to bring some joy into the moment. She headed for the kitchen to make a late breakfast. She decided to make a fire the old way, and with enough time, she made breakfast for the two of them.

***

Akari took a few moments to think, but she doesn't exactly know what to get. "I don't.. really know. My dad doesn't know what mom is sick with, so we don't know what works or not..." She seemed quite sad about saying that, but she had no real choice.

Sahari thinks about it for a second before nodding her head. "Has your mother been looked at by a doctor?" she asked Akari.

***

Kanami looked at her food; unsure what to make of it as she was more so used to eating fruit every morning. She cocked her head to either side before taking a bite, and smiling to Yume in return.

Shippo

Akari nodded, "Yeah, but he couldn't really tell what was going on. This is all I remember, that because she's pregnant that she..." sniffling a couple times, since it's hard for her, "might.. not make it..." Tears formed in her eyes since she didn't want to lose her mother, and it was painful for her to repeat.

***

"Go ahead, eat as much as you want." Yume noticed how happy Kanami seems to be getting now, laying out food for herself to eat. She looked out the kitchen window to think of what else to do, but nothing really comes to mind besides giving Kanami lessons later in the day.

Kalshion

Sahari smiles motherly and gives Akari a hug. "There there," she said in an effort to calm the young kit down. So.. that explains it.. no matter of medicine will help her if she's going through what I think she's going through... she thought but didn't put it into words for obvious reasons.

"How about we head to the clinic ok?" she said to Akari while still hugging her.

***

Kanami nods as she continues to eat her fill; enjoying every passing minute of it.

Shippo

Akari slowly nodded, not really wanting to say anything right now. She followed Sahari back to the clinic.

***

Back at Akari's home, her father is doing a bit of paper-work on the medical situation with his wife, keeping a document as to what's going on. "Maybe one day these will help another family, so they don't have to suffer..." He noted down different things, symptoms, what medicines worked, and which don't; all kinds of information. He was quite detailed with much of the information, so that way it'll be documented for people to know.

***

Yume finished her part of the breakfast and brought out some paper and a sort of quill and ink to write with. She began to write basic words and sample sentences to put them in. "This will take a while to do..." She murmured to herself. "This.. goes there, then that...." Mumbling to herself as to how to make each sentence structure. She wrote at least 3 pages with all sorts of words and sentences for Kanami. "Owwie..." She complained, shaking her hand to get a bit of the pain out.

Kalshion

When they had arrived at the clinic; it was a bustle of activity as villagers had come to help rebuild what had been destroyed in the storm.

"Bring that here!"

"More those boards!"

"Becareful with those tanks...!"

Chatter was abundent as Sahari lead Akari into the clinic. "Let's see," she said as she looked at her cabinet before chosing several viles and bottles of medication, most of which were different types of pain relivers, and placed them in a basket. "Tell your father to only give your mother one of these types, don't give them all at once," she said to Akari. "Did you want L'kas to go with you?" she asked her.

***

Kanami let out a sigh as she watched Yume do her thing; her mind raced with various ideas and about what happened back at the market square. Everytime she saw the Elders face she grew scared, and yet angry at the same time.

Shippo

"Um, if.. it's alright... I don't.. really want the elder to see me..." Akari said, still a bit frightened as to the moment the elder was about to slap her.

***

Yume stared at Kanami for a minute, "Seems you have much to say, but you can't form it yet..." she noted Kanami's expressions. She shrugged it off and had Kanami come next to her, then began the second day of teaching her.

Kalshion

L'kas smiled at Akari and gently took her hand. "You'll have to show me where ya live, since I don't," she said.

Shippo

"I-it's... not.. far from here..." Akari said to L'kas, then slowly walked out with her.

Partly walking through the village, Kyoto has been a bit lost in thought for a bit, and eventually bumped into L'kas by accident. "Whops, pardon me...." She paused, took a small look, "Oh, L'kas, going somewhere?" she then asked.

Kalshion

"Morning, Kyoto," L'kas said with a bow. "Yes I am, taking this kit here back home, afraid she had a bad run in at the market - well, her and your daughter it seems," she smiled just slightly. "Ah! Ummm.. I overheard Sahari offering to come over to your home but with the damages to our farm, that may not be possible," she said and looked down at Akari.

"Akari, you know Kyoto right? The mother of Yume?" she asked her.

Shippo

Akari only shook her head, "I only.. come here with daddy usually. I don't really... meet people much..." she nervously said.

"I've seen her a couple times, but we never truly met." Kyoto said. "I figured the storm would cause that delay. Well, it wasn't anything important. Although, what's the run-in about? I've been out and about lately and I'm about to go check on a garden in the forest." Being curious as she was.

Kalshion

"I only just got there when I rescued Akari from 'him' so your best bet is to talk to your daughter, I don't know if it was her or the other kit with her that were the center of it all," L'kas said while avoiding the use of 'elder' so that Akari wouldn't get scared or frightened.

"Anyway, we should get going," she said to Kyoto and then smiled down at Akari.

Shippo

"Oh, before you leave," Kyoto said to stop L'kas for a moment, "I'll need to talk to you and Sahari in private soon. Let me know when the soonest convenience is." With that, she bowed and took her leave for the garden.

Akari sighed a little, but part of the memory of what happened earlier in the day still frightens to some degree.

Kalshion

L'kas watched Kyoto as she walked away and then looked down at Akari. "Shall we?" she offered.

Shippo

Akari nodded and the two walked off for Akari's house.

When they arrive, her father was on the roof doing some minor repair work to somewhat strengthen it in readiness for the next storm. "Akari, did you get them?" He asked her.

"Y-yeah" She answered back.

"Hm, and who might you be?" Her father looking at L'kas, but seems to somewhat know her from somewhere.

Kalshion

"Good Morning Sir," L'kas says and bows. "My name's L'kas, assistant to Sahari," she said.

Shippo

"Ah, now I know. Go on inside, Akari will show you to my wife. I'll be inside in a moment." He said, then got back to work.

Akari let out a breath to somewhat calm down a bit, then walked inside, then lead L'kas to her mother, who was resting for now, but does look a bit in pain.

Kalshion

L'kas smiled and followed; when she saw Akari's mother she thought to herself. She is in pain, shes with a child to.... hmmm she tapped her chin in thought.

Shippo

"I don't... really know how to give her medicine.. it's always my dad who does." She mentioned to L'kas, "I just don't know what to do.." She sat down at the foot of the bed for now, not really knowing what else to say.

Kalshion

L'kas smiled and looked over at her. "Well, smiling whenever your mother is awake and not having a sad expression helps a lot with people who are in pain," she said and looked at the basket with the medication in it.

She looked at a few of viles; some she knew could only be taken while the patient was eating while the others could be given orally. "Hmmm," she pondered what to do.

Shippo

A few minutes later, her father walks inside the house and goes into the bathroom to wash his hands and face. Once he was done with that, he went into the room everyone else was in. "Now then, is there anything you'd like to know?" He asked L'kas, who seemed rather curious as to what's going on.

Kalshion

L'kas nods but looks at Akari and whispers to her father, "I do have questions; but if its alright with you I'd rather ask them without your daughter around."

Shippo

He nods, then motioned for Akari to leave for a bit. "It's alright, we'll be fine."

Akari sighed, stood up and walked over to her room, closing the door to her parents room first. "I hope it's nothing bad..." She was still a bit fearful, but she laid down in her bed for now to get off her legs.

"Alright then, what is it?" He asked, waiting for her questions.

Kalshion

L'kas sighed and turned to look at Akari's mother before saying. "How long has your wife been in pain like this?"

Shippo

He closed his eyes for a moment to think, then replied, "What's odd is when it did start. It was about 3 months ago when her pain got to a point where she couldn't leave the bed." He thought a bit more to what happened earlier one, "Though, I believe the pain didn't start until 2 months after we found out she was pregnant. However, we thought nothing of it back then."

Kalshion

L'kas nodded and stared. "The problem is that we've never had someone be in pain while pregnant," she said. "So I'm afraid I can't really say what will help, ummm.. .hmmmm," she began to tap her lip in thought.

Shippo

He sighed and sat there for a few moments. "Unlike Akari, the two of us know what is inevitable." He began, taking a moment to take in a breath, "However, I would like to just ease her pain enough, to make... less painful for her, and my daughter..." He was hoping L'kas knew what he was talking about, so he wouldn't have to explain that particular situation further. "Besides that, is there possibly anything else you would like to know?"

Kalshion

She sighed and shook her head. "Seeing a child lose her mother...." L'kas said. She stared at the woman in the bed before saying. "The best that can be done is to give medication that works on pain; but the thing is even I don't know 'exactly' what type of pain she is in..." she shrugged her shoulders.

Shippo

Akari's mother opened her eyes just a little, somewhat hearing of what they were talking about. "T-the pain.. is in.. my chest...." She weakly said, putting her frail hand just above her heart.

"Are you sure your well enough..?" He was concerned about her health as it is now.

"Don't... worry.." She responded, still quite weak.

Kalshion

Chest? she thought and then looked toward her right in thought. Shes with a child... could the child be causing this pain? she thought to herself.

"Can you, possibly, tell me what kind of pain?" she asked, unsure if Akari's mother was able to describe it.

Shippo

She let out a breath for a moment to say, "It's like, I'm.. being stabbed, many... many times..." She took in a few more breaths to continue on a bit further, "But, I know.. it's not my child... I can't... put blame on anyone for this.." sounding very weak. "I've grown, somewhat used.... to the pain now, that I can't feel it on.. occasions..." She finished off, for now.

The father looked a bit worried, but had enough trust in her about what she's saying. "It is rather surprising that it would come now, since when she gave birth to Akari, she was fine." He thought he would mention, to see if it would help in the matter.

L'kas nodded absentmindly and watched her. Sadly, unless I can convince his majesty to allow us to contact the humans, there really isn't much I can do, she thought to herself.

With a heavy sigh she turned to Akari's father. "I don't know if you are, but by some stray chance, are you keeping a record of this?" she asked him.

Shippo

"As a matter of fact, I am indeed." He told her, "I keep it documented on the table in the kitchen. I don't know if you caught a glimpse of it when you were walking in." He stood up to lead her to the kitchen to show her the papers.

Kalshion

When they had gotten to the kitchen, L'kas had spotted the set of papers and looked them over. "Nicely detailed, documented," she thought aloud. "This'll help us out in the future," she smiled at the man before setting them back down and looking back toward the room. "I.. have no reason to ask this, but do you expect your wife to survive the birth of her next child?" she asked in a low enough tone so that, if Akari had been listening, she wouldn't hear.

Shippo

"I don't study medicine, so I honestly wouldn't know." He began to say, keeping his own voice down, "But, with the way things are going, I don't think she will get to look at our child for the first time..." It was pretty much all he could say. "I am slightly more worried for my daughter right now." He said, somewhat referring to the fact that she's a cross-breed. "Although I dearly love her, but I don't think she accepted herself still."

Kalshion

"I've been meaning to ask you about that; it's not common for a kit to be of two different races," said L'kas as she shifted her position to her good leg. "Plus, there aren't to many other kits out here who are crossbreeds like her..." she tapped her chin.

"I mean, there are villages around that have both kits and neko's living together but those villages are located further away," she said before turning her attention back to Akari's mother. With a heavy sigh she shook her head and placed a hand on her face.

Shippo

"Although I think her cross-breed nature might attract unwanted attention," He began thinking, scratching his head a bit, "but what worries me is the white on her ears and tail. I don't know if people will get the wrong impression with her."

Akari herself was fiddling around with a book or two of hers that she used to study with. She decided to read them over a little just for fun to get some memories of her mother when she was still teaching her. The conversation going on outside doesn't reach into her room much, so she has no idea what's going on.

Kalshion

"She's got another color on her so; I doubt she'll be mistaken," said L'kas. "The best that can be done is when the time does arrive is to be there with her and comfort her, I think having her in the presence of other kits might also help, unlike most villages, the kits in our village are rather tame and don't seem to mind the differences in others," she said.

Shippo

"I've heard about Kyoto, but I don't know the details as to what happened with her." He said to her, standing up to stretch out his back. "I believe she would probably be the best person that might help in the situation." He looked over to Akari's room for a moment, then said, "I don't plan to leave her too much in the dark for much longer. I've only told her bits and pieces about what's going on." He sighed and decided not to say much any further.

***

Far up in the northern areas of the continent, a strange red-haired girl running through the forest, as if running away from something, or someone. She was wearing fairly simple clothing, with a plain white shirt and black hakama pants. She was panting quite a bit and constantly looking back, and what was following her were a small pack of wolves. She knew she couldn't stand a chance against a pack of wolves, so she ran for her life to try and out-run them. Occasionally, she would knock down a small tree with her claws that she can cut through, hoping that would slow them down.

Kalshion

She nodded her head. "Keep a record of what goes on with her, but sadly I must be going," she said in a low tone. "I wish the best for your wife, and your daughter, if you need anything just let myself or Sahari know," she said and with that she took one last look at Akari's mother and turned away.

"Also, there is... a storm coming..." L'kas said cryptically before leaving.

Shippo

Akari's father watched L'kas leave, and once she was gone, "A storm...." he repeated. He sighed for now, keeping the thought in his head and went back into the room to read the medicine labels. Afterwards, he took a couple that didn't require his wife to be eating and carefully got her to swallow it. "This should help some on the pain." He whispered.

Kalshion

L'kas found the path that would lead her back to the farm, she walked along the road though as a cart came down bearing resources that were headed to one of the more industrialized towns.

"I guess I'll make some arrangements with Sahari," she said and clamped her hands behind her neck as she walked.

Shippo

With nothing much for anyone, five days passed with little to no events going on, but today, will be one day, some people here won't forget.

It's morning for Akari's family, while she still sleeps, her father runs out to the clinic in a rather fast pace. He wastes no time to get there. He arrives just a couple minutes later to knock on the door, panting to catch his breath.

Kyoto, though, while she was watering a few flowers around the house, notices Akari's father running towards the clinic, then wonders what's going on. She shrugs for now and continues to water the plants. "Makes me wonder I suppose..." She sighed.

Kalshion

"That outta do it," said Sahari as she finished grinding up some of the herbs into a powder. As she was about to measure it all out a knock came to the door, she blinked and looked up. "Odd, not expecting anyone today," she commented as she put down the measuring glass and walked to the door, when she opened she found Akari's father outside, out of breath.

She looks him over and frowns. "Is everything alright?" she asks him.

Shippo

"It's... my.. wife..." He panted, as he was in quite a rush. "I think, it's time." For Sahari, this should come to no surprise as to what he meant.

Kalshion

"L'kas!" Sahari shouts over her shoulder, a few seconds later L'kas runs out of a side room.

"Yea boss?" she asks, slightly out of breath.

"Come on," she said and looks at Akari's father. "Let's go," she added.

He lead the two back to his home, went inside to where his wife is on the bed, where she was slightly sitting up and what looked to be in quite some pain. "I leave her to you two, I must take Akari away for now." He bowed, then walked outside to get Akari up to take her out for a while.

***

After Kyoto was finished with the garden, she went inside and brewed herself a cup of tea. She reads through a list of things to do for the day, which wasn't a big list at all. She kept most of the day open to relax a bit, since she has been quite busy with many things. "Phew, I could use a day of relaxation." She said to herself, "Oh, now that I think about it, that hot spring should be open today." Bringing an idea to her head, she decided to get some of the housework done before she'll tell Yume and Kanami about it.

Kalshion

Kanami was sleeping peacefully on her cot; she had had a tiring night after having spent most of it studying.

She tossled on her cot and mumbled something incoherently before bringing her hands up to her head and falling back to sleep.

***

Sahari had brought in a pot full of warm water; she then mixed in some salt that was used for desanitizing the water.

She looked over at L'kas who had put on a robe that she had brought with her; then helped Sahari into hers due to her wet hands. "Are we ready?" she asked her friend.

"No, but let's start," she said and looked at Akari's mother. Sahari nodded her head and two got to work.

Shippo

"Where are we going?" Akari yawned, wondering where she was going.

"I'm going to have you meet someone" That was all he said for now, keeping the rest as a surprise.

***

In some other part of the continent, the girl who was running away from wolves had managed to lose them for the time being. "Too.. close.." She sighed, looking around for a bit of food to eat. She looked around not only for food, but to find a place to rest. "Seems like there are no villages for a while..." Though, she has been trained as a fighter, she knows she can't take on wolves very well, but she has also been taught to survive on her own in case the need arises.

The girl walked around for a bit, looking around for anything that looked edible. Her hair was tied up in a ponytail, so the length is unknown for now. Her hair somewhat glowed in the sun a bright red color, even though her hair is actually dark red. "Man, I don't think much grows out this far away from villages..." Complaining by the fact that has had little to no luck in finding food.

Kalshion

Sahari wiped the sweet from her forehead and kept her pace.

***

Kanami's eyes fluttered open as sunlight beamed in through the window. "Huh?" she groaned and shielded her eyes, and then sat up and rubbed them. After a few seconds she stretched her arms and let out a deep yawn and glanced over at Yume.

With a blink she turned back toward and let out a deep sigh. "She sleep to long...." she grumbled.

Shippo

A knock comes on the door to Kyoto's home. "I wonder who that could be..." Kyoto said, stopping what she was doing and walks to the door. She opens it to see Akari and her father standing there, "Yes?" she wondered.

"We haven't necessarily met, but I'm sure we've crossed paths a few times." He said to her.

Kyoto took a few moments to think about it, "Hm, perhaps, I do go around here often. Is there something you need?"

He nodded, "Yes. I know it's sudden, but do you think you can watch my daughter for a while? I have a few things that I have to do." He then slightly nudged Akari to stand in front of him.

"I suppose I wouldn't mind." She said, "I'm not doing much today anyway." She hunches down to Akari's level and pats her head, "Your a cute one." smiling at her.

He bowed to her, in respect, "Thank you. I hope to pick her up later today, but just in case, would you mind if she does stay here the night in case I'm not back?" he asked a moment later.

Kyoto shook her head, "Not at all. She's a bit smaller than Yume, so if needed, I think Yume's old clothes would work." she thought, planning a bit ahead. She looked up and noticed she was talking to no one in particular. "Uh... he left quick..." She sighed, then looked at Akari, "You hungry?"

Akari nodded, not saying anything for now. She was lead inside to sit at the table in the kitchen and waits for Kyoto to finish making breakfast.

Kalshion

Kanami mumbles as she gets out of bed and quickly changes; though still half asleep she stumbles out of the room and down to the kitchen, not even noticing they had a guest, she says. "Morning.. momma..." she said while rubbing her eyes.

Shippo

Kyoto jumped from the fact that it was Kanami who said it, rather than Yume who she was used to. "Uh.. K-Kanami...." She tried to say something, but she was a bit too embarrassed and flushed to do so.

Akari only tilted her head, since she's never seen Kanami before. "I wonder who she is..." She whispered to herself.

Kalshion

Kanami starred blankly at Kyoto, then at their guest. She cocked her head to one side in mild confusion. She then looked at Kyoto and asked. "Who this?"

Shippo

Kyoto, unfortunately, was still a bit too embarrassed to say much, so Akari decided to introduce herself. "My name is Akari." She told her. She looked over to Kyoto and sorta giggled about what's going on. "Is.. she really your mom?" She finally asked.

With that note, Kyoto went completely red in the face.

Kalshion

Kanami blinked, looked at Kyoto, then suddenly her brain clicked and her face turned red as she shifted her gaze nervously between the two. "Uh.. um... uh...." she tried to say something but ended up being stuck for words.

Shippo

To break the odd silence, "Um, should I.. do breakfast?" Akari asked out.

Kyoto shook her head, "N-no.. I'll get back to it." She then went back to making breakfast, still a bit flushed in the face.

***

In the distant forest, the girl was resting by a tree to relax while she can. But, not long after, there was a sort of growling coming from a slight distance, "Don't tell me.. they found me already...." she said in a very low voice. She kept her ears up and moved them around, listening for any more growling. A moment after, there was a twig that broke, and knowing it wasn't her, she bolted in the opposite direction she heard the sound, running, yet again, from the pack of wolves.

Kalshion

"W-want me wake up Yume?" Kanami asked nervously, her face still red with embarrassment.

Shippo

Kyoto only shook her head while she continues to make breakfast.

In Yume's room, she was sitting in front of the mirror combing through her hair, "Should I put it up, or just leave it..." she said to herself, wondering what to do.

A few minutes later, Kyoto finishes making breakfast, then begins to set it out on the table, which she prepared not long ago. The food consists of eggs, bacon, and toast, a typical breakfast for many people. "Help yourself." She mentioned to Akari. Then began making one more for Yume.

Kalshion

Kanami nodded and took a seat at the table; she looked over at Akari and smiled sheepishly. She was still embarassed and thus was rubbing her hands together in reflex while looking toward the window.

Shippo

Akari begins eating and, since she doesn't like the silence too much, she decides to break it, "Um, where are you.. from?" she asked Kanami.

Few moments later, Yume walks into the kitchen since she happens to be smelling the food, "That smells yummy." she smiled. Then she has a glance at both Kyoto and Kanami, "Uh, did I miss something.....?" she pondered.

Kanami blinks. "Huh? Uhhh... ummm..." she glances side ways in thought but can't figure out how to answer her question. "I... don't know...." she responds and looks at Yume for answers.

Shippo

Yume only shakes her head, "We'll not worry about that. What is important is that she's here." she answers for her. "Now that I think about it, Kanami, your doing pretty well with talking now-a-days." Complimenting her.

"What do you mean by that?" Akari asked Yume.

Yume thinks, "Let's just say, she couldn't talk before." was pretty much all she really could answer with for the time being.

Akari only tilts her head to one side, then continues to eat her breakfast.

Kalshion

Kanami blushs. "I some know, but not good," she says and then realizes she screwed up and recalls the lesson that Yume taught her. "I know some words, but still not good," she says and grumbles at how she forgot somemore.

With a heavy sigh she looks at the food but finds she isn't hungry and instead continues her stare out the window. "It nice weather," she comments not even bothering to correct herself. "I wonder what we do today," she pondered.

Shippo

Kyoto finishes making Yume's breakfast and sets it on the table, "I'm going to have to go out soon for a little bit." she began to say to the three. "I shouldn't be long, and afterwards, I'll be home for most of the day." She then walked to her room to do some last minute things.

"Hm, guess it's important." Yume silently said, sat down and began to eat. "Kaname, don't worry about messing up, it happens." Trying to comfort her so she doesn't feel too down.

Akari finishes her food, stands, and takes her plate and utensils to the sink. "So what's going on today?" She asked to Yume.

"Um, nothing much really. After what happened a few days ago, I think it's best to stay home for now." Yume answered, not really wanting to cross paths with the elder again. Just thinking about it sends a chill down her spine.

"Oh, I suppose... your right..." Akari replied with, thinking about what happened.

Yume's ears spring up, now that it finally crossed her mind, "Kanami, do you have any idea where you're from?" she wanted to ask, but holding it off for a while.

Kalshion

Kanami shook her head. "No... I been thinking, but ant remember, all remember is be in forest no idea what before," she said and looked at the glass of juice that was in front of her before taking a sip.

Shippo

Yume takes a while to think, but nothing really comes into her head. "Oh well, it was worth a try. I guess she has some sort of amnesia..." Thinking out loud about the situation. Then turns back to Kanami, "What about relatives, or siblings? Like brother, sister, mother, father... or something?"

Akari wondered what was going on, but she didn't say anything, instead she walked to the living room to sit on the couch for the time being. "Certainly.. nicer than.. my home..." She sighed, looking around at how clean the house is.

Shippo

Kanami shook her head once again. "No remember," she said with a sad expression.

Shippo

"Heh," Yume began, leaning over to pat Kanami on the head, "don't worry. I'm sure there are reasons why you can't remember." She sat back in her chair, put a finger on her chin, "Though, I bet it was something that happened before we actually found her..." thinking to herself for now.

Kyoto comes out from her room and stops in the living room, "Bored?" she said to Akari.

Akari only nods, trying to think of something to do.

"Well, if you'd like, I can take you with me, since Yume and Kanami here will probably spend part of the day studying until I get back." Kyoto then said, walking into the kitchen to prepare a couple snacks for later.

Kalshion

Kanami let out a stressed sigh before getting up from the table and looking at Yume. "We study more?" she asked curiously.

Shippo

Yume takes a moment before she replied to Kanami, "If you want to, or we can take a break for today." she answered with.

Kalshion

Kanami thought about before replying. "Break..." she then smiled at Yume before thinking of something else. "Can we go out to the forest?" she asked curiously.

Shippo

"I guess it wouldn't hurt. But, to be safe..." Yume said, but was somewhat interrupted by Kyoto.

"It'd be fine, but it will have to wait 'till I get back. It's bad enough we had a close call the other day." Kyoto said to finish off what Yume was saying. "I shouldn't be long, Akari and I are going out. Yume, the flowers outside need a bit of care, and I'm sure you know what to do." She followed up, walked to get Akari and then the two walked out.

Yume lightly slapped herself, not hurting her, that she forgot about those flowers. "How dumb can I be..." She sighed a moment after. "The garden is right out back, so you can stay close to me if you wish. Just don't touch them is all I ask." She then said, to let Kanami know about the garden, then stood up to get the bucket of water from a cabinet and walked out to the back.

Kalshion

Kanami nodded and followed Yume.

***

He sighed as he looked at the clear blue sky. "Tch..." he scowled as he looked at his two guards and motioned ot them. "Let's go," he said and they grabbed their swords and followed him.

"We going to meet 'them' again aren't we elder?" one asked.

"Yep," the elder said. "And as usual, you two are to stay outside and away got it?" he instructed them, giving them an evil, and threatening, eye. Both guards nodded their heads and kept their eyes forward as they walked.

Shippo

As Yume walked around to the back, she was humming a low, but sweet song her mother taught her some years ago. She watered the flowers accordingly so she doesn't over, or under water them.

***

The girl who was running away from the wolves is still running, but appears to have lost them again as she looked back. "Phew, I think I ditched them again..." She panted, but continues to run at a slower pace, "But they seemed to have backed off now for some reason... I wonder why.." pondering over why the wolves aren't following.

Eventually, just outside the village, she ends up running straight into the elder by accident, knocking the both of them down. "Ow ow ow....." Rubbing her head with her eyes close for a moment. She looks up to see who it was she knocked down, but had no idea who he was, "Uh.. sorry about.. that...." She apologized, "I was.. being chased, so... it was hard to see.." trying to explain her situation.

Kalshion

He scowled as he picked himself up and looked at the kit before him. "First a kit runs into me a week ago; but a kit runs into me today..." he grumbles and stares down the kit.

"If I were you, I'd get lost real quick before my mood sours anymore.." he warned her.

The girl stands up, bows and runs off into the village. "Too... close..." She sighed, somewhat relaxing her a little, then walks around in the village. "Can't say I've been here before..." She thought to herself, wondering what to do, "This... will be one interesting day..."

***

Over on the other side of the village, Akari's father waits in the living room of the house. He was rubbing his head, mumbling to himself about a few things.

After the initial birthing process began a couple hours before, it finally ends, but Akari's mother appears to have not made it through the entire process herself. Unfortunately, her health hsd been on a decline for months, and this was the last thing she could be around for, and now has passed on to a better world.

***

After Yume had finished watering the plants, she put on a cover for a small section of flowers since those particular species are sensitive to sunlight if exposed too much. "Sunny day today, hopefully it'll stay that way." She mumbled to herself a little.

Kalshion

Kanami smiled and looked up at the sun. "It pretty," she said and rested her back up against the house.

***

The elder watched the girl run off and rolled his eyes. "Kit's today.... seems I can't help but run into them on an almost weekly basis," he said as him and his entourage headed out to the forest.

***

Sahari sighed as she removed the hair cap that she had on. L'kas was holding a baby kit, a boy, but as they listened to the kit cry they looked over at the mother who had not survived the process.

She shook her head and walked over to the door and opend it part way. She only looked at Akari's father and nodded grimly, though the sound of a crying kit could be heard.

Shippo

Akari's father sighed, since there was nothing much he could do. "I suppose it's only a matter of time before I tell her the news..." He was talking to himself a bit about what to do. He stood up, looked at Sahari, and asked, "Mind if I ask you for a small favor?"

Kalshion

"Sure," said Sahari.

***

The Elder sighed as he and his entourage were going through the forest. "Just a few more meetings like these and it'll be done with," he said to himself and looked over at his two guards who were keeping their eyes on the general area.

"I wonder how the major is doing with his little... experiment..." pondered the elder aloud as he tapped his chin, causing his two guards to look at him strangely.

Shippo

He wasn't sure if he was asking the right thing, but he had to go through it, "I hate to ask you this, but would you please take care of the child for a couple days? I need to think things through before I have to tell my daughter. I just... don't want her to know... right this moment..." He bowed to her, then began to wait for a response.

Kalshion

Sahari and L'kas looked at one another. "That's not a problem," responded Sahari.

"Did... you want me to help out with the... 'arrangements' for your wife?" L'kas offered and walked up to him and knelt down in front.

Shippo

"Yeah, please do." Was all he said to her on that regard. He took one final look to the room and then left for the time being, to get some thoughts out of his mind before he were to come back.

***

A couple hours pass, the time now being in the afternoon, while Kyoto and Akari haven't returned quite yet, they are on the way now. "That was rather interesting..." Kyoto remarked, about what went on earlier.

"Yeah, it was..." Akari followed up. The two of them continued walking, finally reaching the home.

Kyoto opens the door, "We're back!" she called in.

Both of Yume's ears perk up at the sound of Kyoto, "Finally, I could use a bit of a walk.." she silently said to herself, sitting on her bed. She looks down to Kanami who just happened to be sleeping on her lap.

Kalshion

Kanami mumbles as she rests; her eye lids flickering due to a dream she is having. She shifts her position slightly and brings her hand up to her mouth, her thumb very close but far enough.

"Nita... saren... neutra... catera..." she mumbles before reflexing a bit and then going back to sleep.

Shippo

Yume tilts her head in confusion about what Kanami just said, but shrugs it off, "I guess it's not that important." She then began to slowly nudge Kanami to wake up.

"Akari, why don't you go wait in the kitchen for a minute. There's one or two things I need to do first." Kyoto said to Akari, in which she does just that. Meanwhile, Kyoto herself goes into her room to change her clothes to better suit the trek in the forest.

Kalshion

Kanami still sleeps though she feels the nudge; she mumbles several more times. Finally her eyes flutter open, but close again as she is still partly in her dream, as the dream plays out she begins to speak incoherently.

Then suddenly her hands glow and a bolt of icicles fire out into the wall; she is startled awake with wide eyes of terror.

Shippo

"Uh....." Yume was at a loss for words about what happened.

Kyoto, hearing the crash, runs into Yume's room, still wearing the same kimono since she hasn't even begun to change. "What just happened?" Kyoto asked, a little startled by the sudden event.

"I... I... don't.. quite know..." Yume had no real understanding of magic, so she wouldn't know exactly what was going on.

Kyoto takes a moment to look and notices the wall, "Seems like more repairs will need to be made..." she comments on the holes in the wall. "My brother will be able to teach her more about magic I guess..." She began to wonder, "Anyway, try to calm her down, I need to change before we head out." she then finished, and went back to her room.

Yume takes a few breaths to grasp the situation, "Sometimes it makes me wonder..." Yume sighed, a bit side by the fact she can't use magic at all.

Kalshion

"Nisa.... Loren...." Kanami mumbles as she stares at the wall. Then looks down at the ground before grabbing her head in what appears like pain. "Molatov, Clariff, Eriten....." she says and struggles to get her bearing as tears began to form in her eyes.

Shippo

Akari began to get curious as to what was going on, so she decided to get up and walk over towards Yume's room. By the time she got there and looked inside, a peculiar thought crossed her mind:

"Akari, the spell I just taught you may come in handy for when this child is born. Use it wisely and not too often. I'm afraid it'll be the last thing I'll be able to teach you."

It was one of the last memorable moments with her, and her mother. She walked in, put her hand on Kanami's head, then began to chant some sort of spell, but her voice was so low, she can barely be heard. The spell itself was used to send a sort of calming motion throughout the body, hoping that it would calm Kanami down to get her bearings straight.

Kalshion

Kanami kept her hands on her head but then started to feel herself calming; as she was brought out of her struggle she stared at Akari before falling forward, she quickly placed her hands on Yume's shoulders to stop her collasp.

"Huh?" she blinked and looked at her and then at Yume. "What.... happened?" she asked while in a slight daze.

Shippo

Yume keeps hold of Kanami, then looks to Akari, "Uh, how... do you know that?" she wondered.

"My mom taught me, a few months ago..." Akari replied, looking down.

"Regardless, it got her to stop." Yume said, then turned her attention to Kanami, "Nothing you should be worried about. Still want to go to the forest?"

"Are you sure it's a good idea?" Akari asked her, a little concerned.

Yume nods, "Fresh air usually does people some good." she replied.

Kanami looks up at Yume and then smiles. "Sure..." she says, having completely forgotten what had just happened.

Shippo

"We're going to have to wait for mom to finish, but it shouldn't be too long now." Yume said to Kanami. She sighs for the time being.

Akari shrugs, "Well, I'll just go to the living room and sit." she said and went to the living room to sit in a chair. She began to think about what else her mother has taught, but nothing much comes to mind right now.

Kalshion

Kanami merely nodded and glanced to her left. What happened... I don't.. remember even waking up... she thought and shook her head to clear the cobwebs.

"Yume... what you doing in forest when I first meet you?" she asked with a curious expression.

Shippo

"Hm, good question..." Yume began, trying to remember since quite a bit has happened since then, "Oh, that's right. I have a special garden around there, since some flowers need specific care around trees than the ones out back." Though it took her a bit to respond, she did.

Kyoto comes out of her room, wearing a plain short kimono for now. "Ah, this gives me better movement. Ready you two?" She called out to them.

"I am anyway." Yume called back.

Kalshion

Kanami nodded and hoped down from Yume's lap and onto the ground. "Yep!" she giggled.

Shippo

"Alright then, let's get going." Kyoto said, walking out to the living room, "Come on Akari." she called out to her.

Yume followed Kyoto along with Kanami, and once Akari was up, the four of them headed out to the forest.

Shortly after they got outside, the red-haired girl accidentally bumps into Kyoto, but not as hard as it was earlier. "Ack... sorry........" She let out.

"No no, quite alright." Kyoto noted, then looked down to the girl, "Aren't you a fighter?" she then asked.

The girl shakes her head to get her bearings straight, then looks up at her, "Uh, yeah, I am.. but I'm still in training." she answered back.

Kyoto nodded, since she somewhat recognizes the particular clothing, "Well, be careful next time, alright?" she patted her head, then started walking again towards the forest.

Kalshion

Kanami looked at the girl with curiousity on her mind. She watched the girl before continuing to follow Yume and the others.

***

"Excellent! Excellent!" A man wearing a red robe laughed manically as he observed something in front of him. "Perfect! This is just PERFECT!" he continued to laugh.

Behind and several feet away, four guards watched with nervous glances.

***

"I hate these walks," said the elder as he arrived at a cave and looked up and then to his left and right. "No one's here," he said and looked at his two guards and motioned with his head to stay outside.

He walked into the dark and damp cave until he came to an alter that was in the middle of an incave lake. The lake glistenned even though there were was no light, yet a closer look revealed that there was in fact light, it was just under water.

As the elder approached the alter he knelt down onto one knee and placed an arm over his chest. "I am here," he said.

Shippo

Kyoto and the others arrived at the particular garden Yume was taking care of out in the forest, "It's about here where we found her. Quite the coincidence, in my opinion." Kyoto noted, looking at the garden.

"Yeah, it was." Yume followed up, going down on her knees to look at the flowers.

***

"I should be safe if I stay in this town..." The girl said to herself, wandering around the place, "At least, so long as no one actually notices me..." She had her guard up the entire time, in case anyone decided to sneak up on her.

Kalshion

Kanami pondered what to do and went down onto her knees. She watched Kyoto and then Yume, curious intent in her eyes once more as she wondered what they were planning on doing.

***

Back in a town; a female kitsune wearing a blood red kimono was leaning up against a store wall. She had a small dagger in her hand and was throwing it up into the air and catching it mid-fall and then repeating the action. Her presence was barely noticable as she was actually in the alley between two stores which was dark due to the roof overhead.

She watched the town's people with analyptical eyes.

Shippo

Kyoto has a look around the area for a few minutes, "Hm, I better pay attention to the winds, in case that comes again..." coming to a conclusion about some strange weather patterns.

"I suppose your right, but what about the gardens?" Yume wanted to know, as she didn't want to lose them.

Kyoto takes a look at the flowerbed, then said, "Providing we have enough time, I can get the seeds. These won't be mature for another 4-8 days."

Yume sighed, lightly feeling the different flowers, from green, to bright red, even the odd colored and multi-colored. Then something clicks in her mind, "Kanami, didn't you need to come out here for something?"

Kalshion

Kanami's mind wondered with a reason until, after two minutes, she sighed and gave a saddened expression, her ears drooping and her tail still. "Me do not remember..." she whined as she stared down at the ground.

***

"Yes! Yes! YES!" a kitsune wearing a black robe laughed maliciously. Ahead of him, several figures loomed and stared at him - their eyes blood shot.

Shippo

While the girl with the red hair walked through town, she started to smell a fairly fragrant aroma. She decided to follow it and ended up in front of Kyoto's home. "So this is where it was coming from." She said, wondering where it was coming from exactly. She walks behind to house and sees there is a garden that is fenced in, "Wow, I've not seen nearly all of those flowers before..." being quite amazed at what she was seeing.

***

Yume decides to correct Kanami on a minor mistake, "When you mention yourself, it's 'I', instead of 'me,' depending on how your saying it." She stands up to look at the sky, with only patchy clouds for now. "Mom, can you feel anything changing?" She asked.

"No, nothing drastic at the moment." Kyoto replied, staring at the sky.

Kalshion

Kanami nervously giggled and nodded. She then turned her attention to some flowers and stared at them, but as she did so an aroma began to float through the air which at first smelled sweat. "Huh?" she said and quickly stood up and began to wonder in the direction of the aroma.

"Sweat smell..." she said and sniffed it even more before taking off, but she only got a few feet before another aroma, this one sickly distasteful and powerful, overwhelmed her sense of smell and caused to collasp onto her knees with her hands over her nose. "eee.. wh... whats that... s...smell..." she muttered as she sat there. I... it smell... l... like what... smell.. in forest... sometimes.... but.. m... more wor..w...worse..... she thought.

Shippo

Kyoto tilted her head as she noticed Kanami walking away. Yume was still staring at the sky wondering what the weather may do soon. "Stay here." Kyoto said to Yume, then walked off towards Kanami.

A few moments later, Kyoto started to smell the aroma that Kanami had been and covered her own nose, "Wh-what.. is that... awful smell..." trying to not let it get to her head. She walked up behind Kanami and helped her up.

***

The girl stared at the flowers for a while until someone came up behind her, a woman who looks about in her 30's, with short hair with variations of red, orange, and yellow in her hair, "You like their flowers, don't you?" she asks the girl.

The girl herself jumps from the sudden appearance and turns around, "Uh y-yeah..." she panted.

The woman turns to the flower garden, "They are beautiful indeed. My name is Aeris, what about you?" she then said a moment later.

"Akane..." was all the girl said.

"Interesting name, for someone like you." She commented, "I'm sure you might of known about Kyoto, a woman with pink hair, let her know I'm here." With that, she walked off elsewhere for the time being.

Akane tilted her head for a moment, "Aeris... Kyoto... Uh, ok.. but oh well." pondering over exactly who Kyoto was. She turned back to the garden and then eyes on a special looking flower. "Wait, I know that flower... How did it end up here...." The flower was a special, blue-colored flower that would glow on the night of the full moon. It's one of the rarest flowers that can ever be grown by anyone.

Kalshion

Kanami continued to cover her nose as the smell only got worse. Deep in the forest, the kitsune continued his laugh as his minion converged on him.

"W-what are you doing?!" the kitsune said suddenly when he noticed the movements of his minions. He lookd amongst them before they completely surrounded him. "Stop! I am your master! I created you! I brought you LIFE!" he shouted.

She continued to sit there as the smell intensified but as it did the smell of intense copper filled the air and began to make her sick.

Suddenly, and out no where, a terrifying high pitched scream of pain and terror filled the air.

***

She had been keeping track of the townsfolk but as she did, her ears suddnely perked up before she was forced to cover them with one of her hands. As she thought about what she heard, it suddenly made her heart sink when it dawned on her. "Oh no...." she said as she took a few steps back and disappeared into the dark, alley way.

Both of Kyoto's ears went down to lower the intensity of the scream going into her ears.

Yume, on the other hand, had no such luck. She covered her ears hard, but her eyes were closed hard since the moment the scream happened, a pain went through her ears and started to bleed a little. Some of that blood slightly went through her hands.

Kyoto put one hand over Kanami's mouth, hoping that would help a little, "Be quiet... There is no telling what's out there..." she firmly said, stepping backwards to Yume.

***

Akane's ear flicked up from the scream, "Whoever that was, sure has some lungs..." she commented, then left the home to follow where the scream came from. She had a feeling that she just might be needed for something while she was there.

Kalshion

Kanami didn't say a word namely since the smell was only getting worse. Her ears perked up a second time when she heard something in the forest drawing near.

A strange looking beast soon appeared from the forest, it's legs looked disfigured and its face was equally as grotesque. It's eyes scanned the area until they fell upon Kyoto and the others. It let out a strange sounding roar as it's tell, dripping with a strange liquad, swept the ground.

It's claws extended from it's deformed paws and it took a stance of fighting.

Kanami's eyes went wide until she passed out from the sight of the beast.

Shippo

Kyoto slowly backed further away, "Yume... run..." she warned.

Once Yume came to her senses, she finally looked at what was staring at them. Due to that she needs to treat her ears, she decided to make a run for it anyway back home.

With a free hand, Kyoto folded her hand into a fist, with her index and middle finger extended out, ready to defend herself at a moment's notice.

While Yume was running back, she runs past Akane and only gets a small glance, but thinks nothing of it and continues to run back. Akane, on the other hand, continues to run toward where Kyoto was, "Seems like I'm getting close... and that awful smell..."

Kalshion

The creature reared it's head up and stared at Kyoto; its teeth visible, it let out a mighty roar that only further intensified the smell of the area.

It began to step forward then started running, letting out another roar in the process as it sped toward her.

***

She kept her face as she ran through the forest. "Can't believe I missed one," she cursed herself as she dodged branches and lept over rocks and ran through a river, her pace continued even when her nose picked up the faint trace of a foul smell in the air. "Ughs...." she grunted.

Shippo

With Kanami still in her arms, Kyoto sliced the air with her two fingers to create a small wind blade to push the monster back. She continued to step back since she can't run as fast while carrying someone.

Kalshion

The creature roared as one of it's arm was ceaved from it's body; then suddenly it grew back. The creature gave a laugh as it started toward her with it's mouth open.

***

Twigs snapped and branches gave way as she wayed deeper into the forest. "Almost... almost..." she said as the scent got worse but she also smelled blood and death in the air.

As she approuched the area she snapped her hand as a staff appeared with two blades on either end. "Just a few more seconds," she said and smelled the faint presence of two other kitsune, one of the scents was that of a small child while the other was an adult. Stay alive for a few seconds more... she thought.

Shippo

Kyoto slices the air twice more at the creature, "Stay.. back...."

The moment she casts off the second wind blade, a stream of fire aided in the second blade to further push the creature away. "Not often I really use my fire..." Akane mumbles, walking up next to Kyoto.

"I knew I recognized that clothing... Your part of a fighter group in the north, aren't you?" Kyoto asked, not taking her gaze off the creature.

Akane gets into a fighting stance, ready to keep the creature back, "Yeah, I am. I'm still in training, but I'm a bit better than the others right now..." she replied with.

Kalshion

The creature steps back a few feet but then looks down at Kanami; it was at that moment that Kanami awoke and looked around, she blinked at first wondeirng why she hadn't moved then realized, based on the fur on her back standing up, that she was still very much in danger as she turned and stared at the creature.

Fear engolfed Kanami as her eyes fixed on the creature, and the creature itself could smell her fear and a broad grin formed on its face.

"I... I'm scared..." Kanami commented as she snuggled up against Kyoto's chest and placed herself in a sort of fetile position.

Shippo

Kyoto holds Kanami close, stepping back even further, And I'll have my brother teach you a few things as well... thinking to herself.

"I'll try and hold it back," Akane instructed, "you get out of here."

Kyoto wondered about Akane's actual fighting abilities, but decided to run back to her home.

Kalshion

The creature saw Kyoto's movements and roared so loud the tree's ahead began to shake before splintering and peppering the ground ahed of her with sharp sticks.

It lowered it's head and looked at the kit in front of her, it was viewing her as a snake as a strange, whitish liquad dripped off it's mouth.

The sticks that were in the front vibrated before a yellowish barrier appeared around the area that the beast, Akane and Kyoto and Kanami inhabited. "W... we're trapped..." Kanami feared.

Shippo

Kyoto pulls the brakes and skids to a stop, stopping right next to the edge of the barrier. "And breaking barriers isn't something I can do..." She quietly said.

"Oh, now you've done it..." Akane mumbled a little, then waved one of her arms, sending a blade of fire about twice as powerful to what Kyoto did. She followed up right behind the blade to add in quite a powerful punch, avoiding the liquid the creature was dripping out.

Kalshion

Parts of the creature were severed from it's body; but those parts quickly regenerated as he looked at Akane with more hunger in it's eyes.

Suddenly the barrier cracked; before a small area shattered, the spikes in the ground exploded harmlessly. A kitsune wearing a red robe walked casually out of the breach in the barrier, her twin bladed staff leveled on her shoulder.

The female kitsune stared at the beast before turning to Akane and the others. "Go run, you can't fight this thing and live.. it's immune to elemental magic!" she shouted as she spun her staff around and into an aggresive stance.

Shippo

"I already figured that out after that woman used wind magic..." She shot back, "I was only holding it off anyway." She didn't quite like the tone this new person was using, but regardless, she decided to run back towards Kyoto, who apparently decided to bolt the moment the barrier shattered.

Kalshion

She watched and then smiled before turning her attention to the beast in front of her. "Ok... now... let's deal with you and purge this area of the deathly scent," she said and raised her staff into the air.

Her staff pulsated with light as the two seperate tips changed to a pure white color. "Xeno, Xepha, Lure..." she said as she brought her staff down and then made a cleaving motion at the beast.

For a second it seemed nothing happened; then suddenly a cut appeared on the beast that extended from the center of it's head to the tip of its tail. The two halves seperated before evaporating into many various particles.

The barrier itself; the whole of it that still stood despite the breach she had made, dissolved just then as she landed on both of her feet. "Now to purge this area," she said and slammed her staff into the ground. A white wave of energy flashed aross the ground, even rushing past Kyoto and the others as they ran.

When the wave subsidded, the pleasant smell of flowers and common aroma of trees and other plants filled the area. She took in a whiff of th air and smiled before turning her eyes in the direction the ones she warned fled in. "I better make sure they are alright," she said.

***

Kanami continued to hug Kyoto until the air around her suddenly changed, she blinked several times and looked around. "Huh.. it no longer stinky..." she commented

Shippo

Akane had caught up to Kyoto while she was running, and once they noticed the odor was gone, they slowed down to a walk. "Um, I have.. a message for Kyoto..." Akane called out, not knowing who she was yet.

"That would be me, what is it?" Kyoto replied to her.

"Well... some woman named Aeris wanted me to tell you she was around." Akane messaged back to what she was told.

Kyoto continued to walk, taking a while to think about Aeris. "Oh yeah, I asked her to come by one day..." Kyoto remembered why she requested for her. "Thanks, anything else?" She then asked.

"No, but I would like to stay for a while..." Akane was a little evasive with what she was explaining.

Kyoto nodded, "It'd be fine with me. I suppose you'll explain back at my home?" she wanted to know.

Akane only nodded, but she didn't want to explain things out in the forest.

***

Yume had rushed inside the house to take care of her ears. She went into one of the bathrooms to get a few pieces tissue paper to clean the blood in her ears and her hair. "Man, I just washed my hair too.. Why now..." Complaining about the fact of the scream and how close she was. She used some cotton to plug one of her ears for the moment, then got some special ear drops for her other ear. She put in about 3 drops, then plugged that ear, then worked on the next ear. "Shame this is what I have to go through..." She sighed, finishing up. Then she put the stuff away, went to her room and laid down on her bed.

As she made her way through the forest she kept an eye on her surroundings and found that there were no signs of anyone or anything except for the occastional animal that had come out of hiding.

She used her nose and followed the scent until she saw those had fled in the distance. She quickened her pace to catch up while her staff was leveled precisely on her shoulder with one hand on it to keep it still.

***

Kanami liked being carried; but she was still scared after what happened. "Kyoto... they gone?" she asked her.

Shippo

"Yes, they are." Kyoto replied to Kanami, coming up to her home. "Oh, what was your name again?" She asked to the girl walking next to her.

"Oh right... It's Akane." Akane answered.

"I'm Kyoto, my daughter is Yume, and this here is Kanami." Kyoto said back to her. She got back to the door of her home and proceeded to go inside, "Make yourself at home. I have to check one or two things." Kyoto mentioned to Akane, set Kanami on her feet and went to Yume's room.

Akane decided to go into the living room to sit on the couch and look around. A bit simple, but.. nice, I suppose... She thought to herself, wondering what else might be inside.

Kalshion

"Well now, nice looking home," she said when she caught up to the house only to spot Kyoto going in. "Though naturally I always was rather slow at catching up to others," she grumbled.

When she walked up to the door her nose picked on the smell of blood; her firm tightened on her staff as she knocked on the door.

***

Kanami was glad to be back on both feet as she looked around the room before going to find Yume. "Yumi!" she shouted as she searched the place - unaware that she mispronounced Yume's name.

Shippo

One of Akane's ears moved toward the door, not knowing who could be there. She got her guard up just in case she needed to in case something happens.

"You'll be alright?" Kyoto asked Yume.

Yume, with her eyes closed, replied, "Yeah, I know what to do." being a little annoyed about her mother.

Kyoto nods and walks back out to the door and opens it, "Yes?" She took another look, "Oh, your that woman who came a few minutes ago." she said, remembering about seeing her just earlier.

In the meantime, Akari had been hiding out in Kyoto's room for the past few hours, not wanting to go outside, in fear something bad might happen. Being that she is a bit sensitive about herself, she doesn't like going out to meet other people, due to some making fun of her for being different than your typical neko or kitsune.

Kalshion

She smiled. "good day, I see your alright, are your parents home?" she asked.

***

Kanami continued to look until she finally found Yumi. "Yuni!" she chirped childishly as she ran up to the older kit.

Shippo

"No, it's been me and my daughter for a few months now." Kyoto began to tell her, "We're just waiting for my brother to come home soon."

Yume made a hand motion to keep Kanami's voice down, "My ears sorta hurt right now.." she said with her eyes closed. "And, it's Yu-Me." She then corrected.

Kalshion

Kanami giggled embarassingly when Yume corrected. "Sore," she said.

***

"I see, mind if we... talk.. for a few? Preferably without the children around?" she asked her and glanced over her shoulder for a second.

Shippo

"I guess it wouldn't be too much of a problem." Kyoto answered back, then stepped outside and closed the door. "So what is it you need to talk about?"

Akane got a bit curious as to what they might be talking about, as she quietly got up, she crept toward the door to see if she can somehow listen through to hear what the two women may be talking over.

Yume sighs and tries to get some rest. "If you wouldn't mind, I need a bit of rest." Yume said as she continues to lay there on her bed.

While in Kyoto's room, Akari peaks through the door to see who might be out there. She doesn't see anyone and slowly walks out to the kitchen, noticing one or two new scents than what she initially smelled earlier in the morning.

Kalshion

Kanami smiled innocently and dashed out of the room, only to bump into Akari.

***

She glanced at the door and smiled briefly before turning her attention to the woman in front of her. "My name's Violeta, I'm a hunter but my specialty is undead, may I ask what you name is?" Violeta cocked her head to one side in a curious manner.

Shippo

"Oof!" Akari yelped out, getting knocked back from Kanami. "That.. was a bit... sudden.." Akari silently said.

"My name is Kyoto. I study the element of wind, but my actual abilities are below average." Kyoto answered for Violeta.

Kalshion

Kanami rubbed her head as she sat there and looked up. "S-sorry!" she said suddenly before cocking her head to one side and saying. "Where been?" she asked.

***

"For someone who's abilities are below average, you handled yourself surprisingly well back there," Violeta said, motioning with her head in the direction of the forest. "You must've fought undead before then aye?" she asked.

Shippo

"It's alright..." Akari started, "I just.. don't want to go out right now..." she finished, walking to the kitchen.

Kyoto shakes her head, "No, I haven't. I've always watched my brother fight, but I don't fight myself." She took a moment before saying one more thing, "He was born with ice, while I got nothing from our father. So, I study wind for self-defense."

Akane continued to listen in, Hm, can't say I remember someone learning to do spells like that before... she said to herself in her mind.

Kalshion

Violeta nodded and rubbed her chin. "I see," she said and thought for a moment. "I can't help but notice you have three daughters, quite a hand full isn't it?" she grinned.

***

Kanami nodded before getting up and brushing herself off.

Shippo

Kyoto blushes about the thought of more children, "N-no.. You have it all wrong...." She was stuttering a bit to get the right words out. "Yume.. is my... only daughter. The others are... just.. s-staying.... for a while.." She was beginning to be a little too embarrassed to talk again.

Akari looks around in the kitchen to find what to snack on for a while before lunch comes around. Though, she can't necessarily find anything since she doesn't know where everything is. She sighs and goes into the living room to sit on an area of the couch, "Um, what.. are you doing..?" She asked Akane.

"Shhhhh...." Akane shushed Akari, trying to listen in further. Hehe, I see... She giggled, trying to keep her voice down

Kalshion

"Ahh! Sorry about that; anyway, I didn't mean to change the subject. Have you seen other undead around these parts other than that which you encountered?" asked Violeta as she stole a glance at the door and made a motion with her hand toward it.

Shippo

Kyoto puts one hand with her palm facing the door, then makes a small hand movement to send a small gust of wind that sends Akane back from the door.

Akane was caught by surprise and flies onto her back, rather confused at what just happened. "Uh.. that was new..."

"No, this was the first time I've seen any in this area." Kyoto replied.

"Didn't say I told you so..." Akari shook her head with what happened.

"Shut up......" Akane shot back. She gets up, dusts herself off, and walks to sit on another area of the couch.

Kalshion

"Then he was right," she pondered and tapped her chin. "These undead... are different... I thought he was wrong but it turns out he was correct." she grumbled and paced in front of Kyoto.

***

Kanami had walked into the living room and was resting her arms on the window sill, staring out into the distance.

Shippo

"Who was right?" Kyoto repeated, wondering about the person Violeta is talking about.

Akane was getting a little bored of the silence, so in an effort to break it, "So... where did the two of you come from?" she asked out.

"My home.. is just outside the village..." Akari gave her answer.

Kalshion

"Ah," Violeta smiled innocently, unaware that she had said that aloud. "Our chief, all undead hunters are under the authority of a chief - even though we only talk to him once every season," she said. "Anywho, he had warned us that there a rumor of a rise of undead activity, he was right... damn was he right," she shook her head.

She turned toward the sky and noticed the distant storm clouds. "Seem's we have a storm coming," she said and looked at Kyoto. "I'll be around here for the next few days, but right now I should go and talk to the village elders in this area and alert them to the threat," with that she placed her hand to her side and turned her back to Kyoto. "Keep your ears to the ground, if you spot an undead, try and keep you and your daughter along with the other kits hidden, preferably somewhere deep in your home," she said and then started to walk away.

***

Kanami continued to stare out the window; her ears flat as she stared. She had been so fixated on the clouds that she didn't even hear Akanes question.

Shippo

"Well, alright." Kyoto nodded, watching her leave. Once Violeta left, she returned back inside her home and closing the door.

Akane tilts her head and tries to ask again, leaving Akari out this time, "Um, you in the window, where are you from?" she said a bit louder.

Since Kyoto got in, her stomach growled a little and blushed, but luckily for her, it wasn't loud and the others couldn't hear. She went into the kitchen to start preparing lunch for everyone. "Busy, seems it'll be that way for a while. And at this rate, I'm going to need to buy more food..." She said to herself.

Kanami blinked and turned toward Akane and thought about her question. "I... don't remember," was all she said before turning her attention back to the clouds.

Shippo

"We found her." Kyoto called out from the kitchen. She begins to set the table up for everyone, leaving Yume out for now. I'll just bring her some food later. She thought to herself, figuring out what to make for her.

The sudden call-out made Akane jump. "That... Freaks... Me... Out..." Rather annoyed for being scared so easily.

"What about you?" Akari asked Akane, wondering where she could be from.

"I'm part of a training group in the northern area." Akane answered, "But, I sorta... got separated from the rest of them." adding on to what she initially said.

Kalshion

"Do you.. have a mamma?" asked Kanami, though she didn't turn to address her.

Deep in the forest, the elder shook his head as he looked over the remains of a kitsune. "Man... poor guy," he said and knelt down and looked at the general surroundings. "Well, his usefulness was over with anyway. Now we just have to wait and see how many villages get ravaged before the people begin to think it was the humans," he grinned as he picked up a necklace that lay in the sand between some bones and then pocketed it before heading off.

As he walked he heard an odd growling sound in the distance and grinned. "Tonight... that farm should be hit first," his grin broadened.

Akane was sorta caught off guard by the sudden question, "Well, we all do. Though, my mom is doing.. other things..." Though it took her a while to answer, she did.

Now, Akari got a sudden moment of remember about her mom, and then a few tears ended up rolling down her cheeks. She started to wonder how she was doing, but without any way to return, she started to break down.

"Uh.. um..." Akane couldn't think of anything to say.

Kyoto's ears perked up hearing the sniffling from Akari. She stopped what she was doing and walked out, "What's wrong now?" she wondered.

Akane just shrugs, "We were asked about our mothers, but..." she didn't want to go any further.

For now, Kyoto went over to Akari, got on her knees and looked at her, "Now, calm down. I'm sure everything will be alright." trying to calm her down. Kyoto pats her head a bit. Though, to her demise, it doesn't seem to work. "Akane, was it? Would you mind setting the table up if you can?" She asked of her.

"I suppose." Akane said, then went to the kitchen to finish setting the rest of the table. "Though, now I'm wondering what's going on..." Akane mumbled.

While Akari and Kyoto sit together, Akari begins to explain about her situation to Kyoto as to what's going on. Taking many moments of silence to catch her breath to calm down enough to continue.

Kanami sighs and turns inward to the room before heading into the kitchen. "Kyoto.. whats lunch?" she curiously asked.

Shippo

"Nothing special, unlike dinner later today." Kyoto replied. Then she got back to listening to Akari.

Violeta sighed as she walked down the path leading to the village. "First human raiders, now undead zombies... what's next? Revolting Kitsune? Man I hope not," she said.

Scanning the sky, Violea became aware of the distant lightning that was striking almos once every few seconds. "Man.. talk about a bad storm," she said and pulled her hood up over her and placed her staff inside a very long cloth that she attached to her back.

Kanami nodded and with that turned her attention back to the storm that was approuching.

Sahari wiped her forehead of the sweat that had accomulated. "That was fun," she said sarcastically as she poured the contents of a medicine jar into a pot and began a small fire. "Now to let this cook for a few hours."

She strolled out of the kitchen then and onto the patio where she spotted the incoming storm. "Man, I can tell tonights going to be another one of those nights," she said while cleaning her hands off with a cloth. As she turned she stopped when her ears picked up an odd howling in the distance. "The wolves must've found dinner," she said before disappearing into her home.

Nearby in the forest, several sets of red hellish eyes watched the farm.

Akari and Kyoto finish talking for the time being, with Akari hunched over on the couch. Kyoto stands up and walks to the window, "Another storm... Ruins that plan.." she sighed. "Come on, let's all get some lunch and I'll figure something out for dinner." She said after a small pause, then walked to the kitchen.

Akari followed after thinking to herself for a few more minutes, but didn't say anything since she wants to keep silent for now.

Kanami stays silent as she pushes off the window sill and follows Kyoto into the kitchen, she then takes a seat at the table, but her mind focuses on the doorway. "Wonder Yume alright..." she ponders to herself.

Violeta stared at the village in the distance. "Well.... now comes the hard part," she sighed frustratingly and continued her walk.

"She'll be fine. This has been going on for a few years now." Kyoto said to Kanami, "Besides, you need to eat." She followed up.

"What's the deal with finding her anyway?" Akane asked, wondering where Kanami comes from.

Kyoto takes a few bites of her food first, before answering, "Yume had gone to the forest, and I went out there soon after. Next thing we know, we find her in a bit of trouble, so we took her with us. Though, in reality..." She paused for a moment, not knowing how Akane may take this extra bit of news.

"In reality..." Akane pushed, trying to get Kyoto to finish her sentence.

"How can I put it... She is.. a white kit..." Kyoto finally let out.

Akane's eyes went a bit wide, "Uh, you know they are banished, right?" she warned.

"I'm aware..." Kyoto started, taking another bite, "but I wasn't going to let her stay the way she was. The elder would have to think twice before he may mess with us anyway..."

Akane tilted her head, "What for?" she asked, before taking a few bites of her food.

Kyoto gave a long pause before she decided to answer that question. "Unlike... the others, my brother, Yume, and I... we have royal blood in our bodies..." She wasn't necessarily thrilled of talking about it, "But, we don't think we're better than anyone else, especially my brother.."

"That....." Akane didn't really finish what she was going to say, and decided to continue eating.

"Royal.. blood?" Akari came out, but in a quiet tone.

Kyoto only nodded and continued to eat her food as well.

Kanami stayed quiet throughout the whole thing until after Kyoto was done before saying. "Forest was... lonesome..." she said and placed her fork down. "And scary.... but Kanami not alway alone," she added before taking a bite out of her food.

She let it settle for a second before saying more. "Satashi..." she stopped suddenly and then shook her head, in the process tears flew out of her eyes as she fought back a memory of something.

"It's fine to be scared." Akane mentioned, "We all get scared of something."

A few moments pass before Kyoto heard the name Kanami let out, "Sa...tashi? Who might that be?" she wondered.

"Beats me, but..." Akane mentioned, pointing to Kanami who seemed to want to cry.

Kyoto sighed, This is going to be one hectic day for me. She stood up and walked over to Kanami, got on her knees and patted Kanami's head, "Now now, what's wrong?" trying to comfort her.

Tears flowed from Kanami's eyes as the memory of her friend replayed.

"Satashi!" Kanami giggled as her and another girl her age were gathering flowers from around a tree.

Satashi sighed and looked over her shoulder. "Kanami.. keep quiet ok?" she said and Kanami ducked down and smiled innocently.

The two girls continued to collect the flowers until a rustling noise got their attention; their ears perked up and then shifted their gaze toward a set of bushes.

After a few seconds three men came out wearing armor; the armor clanked as they approuched the two kits. Satashi instantly rose to her feet and ran to shield Kanami.

"Oh ho..." one man said and laughed. "What have we here? Two white kits... how nice.." he lowered his spear and aimed it at Satashi who showed no fear and didn't flinch at the sight of the spear.

"Well now, seem's we have a toddler here who is not afraid of you boss," another man, this one holding a sword and shield said with a gruff and a laugh.

Their boss rolled his eyes before bring his spear up; then made a quick motion and wacked the bottom of the spear into Satashi's chest, several things cracked and Satashi found herself slamming against a tree. She slid down onto the flower back, and felt something warm and liquad begin to puddle around her - whatever it was - it was red.

Kanami ran over to her friend. "R-run... K... Kan.... Kanami...." Satashi said whilst coughing up blood. Kanami shook her head and wanted to stay, but Satashi said a few choice words that made Kanami nod. "P...p....promi....me...." she coughed somemore before Kanami ran off in tears.

The three men laughed their manical laugh before approuching a half dead Satashi. "Shall we finish the club?"

"Let's..." the last said.

Kanami watched from a tree; and promptly threw up.

That action was nearly repeated when she got out of her dream like state; she grabbed her mouth and held whatever she had in her stomach back in, but the tears still flowed. "Satashi...." she said through sobs.

Kyoto reacted quickly before things got out of hand. She reached into her kimono, pulled out a rag that had some sort of powder, used a free hand to remove Kanami's hands from her mouth and placed the rag over her mouth and nose. The powder was only made to knock Kanami out, as if to rest. "Thank you.. brother, for this..." She lowly mumbled.

"What was that stuff?" Akane asked, getting a small whiff of the smell.

"Just something my brother made." Was all Kyoto answered with, since how to make it was a family secret. "Now I have two girls who need rest..." She sighed, picked up Kanami and walked into Yume's room. She placed Kanami on the futon, then walked out to clean the table and the dishes.

Akari had been done with her food, and went to sit on the couch, or actually, lay down from what went on before lunch started. She ended up getting lost in thought about what to do and what would happen once she gets back home.

Violeta grumbled as she watched the elder seemingly not care about her warning. She had managed to catch up to him as he entered the village, but the scent she got off him was worryingsome. Why does he smell like death itself? she had asked herself at the time.

"So, will you are least tell the village militia to keep their eyes on the forest?" said Violeta.

The elder yawned and then shook his head. "Your concerns are pointless, there is no such thing as 'undead' as you call them, and thus we have nothing to worry about," he said in an unconcerned tone.

"Ughs, how can you be so calm about this? There is clear-" Violeta said before one of the Elders guards lowered his spear at her.

"Didn't I just say, no?" he said to hier, this time in a more authoritive tone. "Now, get lost...."

Violeta growled under her tongue before turning and leaving, not bothering to bow in respect since in her mind he didn't deserve it. Her lack of it though wasn't lost on the guards who attempted to stop her but were meet with her staff in their faces, they promptly backed down as she left the Elders house.

She made her way into the village and scowled. "Idiot...." she said and went off to warn the other villages.
